I've been on the Cymbalta now for about six months, and it's the ONLY med that has given me any relief! Lyrica didn't help at all; Neurontin helped, but gave me headaches.
I take 60mgs at bedtime.
I hope it helps you!

I find it mind boggling that Lyrica helps some of us and others not at all. After being on Neurontin and Tegretrol, this is the best so far and works wonders for me. While it is not 100% as I also take Tramadol, mostly at night, and still use the Lidoderm patches on the top of my feet when I know I am going to be on them for a long time, I do not get the breakthrough throbbing pain I used to.
I have not yet researched Cymbalta - what is it supposed to do? I do take Prozac (have for quite a few years) - is it something like that and how does it help a person?
I also take Vitamin B-12 like I am supposed to (thank you Rose), and my most recent blood test had my Vitamin B-12 level at 2037. The reference ranges were 193-982. I have had an Anodyne home kit since January which I used faithfully for three months every day. I now use it 2-3 times a week. I can always tell when I need a treatment.
Thank you everyone for all the information you share. I have gotten so much help from all.

Lyrica worked great for the pain, but it gave me headaches and made me gain weight.Seemed like I was always hungry.Cymbalta is an antidepressent, but it seems to be working ok for the pain,of course I've only been on it for a week. It was this or Topomax, which is for Migrains.Bizarre isn't it,what these meds work for! boo

Luckily, Lyrica does not give me headaches (actually none of the medicines I have been on have produced headaches) and I have not gained any weight either. I have been on Lyrica since spring. I will discuss Cymbalta versus Prozac with the doctor at next visit.

Hi Diana,
I've been on Prozac too. What the meds do is so different from one person to the next...you might have great results with Prozac.
I take Cymbalta for the anti-depressant part of it also. I'm on quite a few meds, and having one that takes care of two things is great.
