cookie, it is okay to come here and grumble. Is there a different pharmacy for you to go to? I have been getting medication for years and not had the trouble you describe. I have had to wait a day or two but not been told thye had the meds and then sold them out from under me. I hope you have better luck in the future.

If this pharmacy operates like most pharmacies... your paper rx was put in a plastic basket and put in some "pecking order" ... most likely at the bottom of the stack.
When one Pharmacist is working with 2-6 techs and filled Rxs "flying by" at the rate of one every 60-90 seconds and you throw in phones ringing and some you have to take... and having to stop to answer patient questions... you have to focus on what is the task at hand. while still keeping an ear open and a eye on what the techs are doing (or not doing) and telling patients what is correct/incorrect... Corporate pharmacy is wanting lower and lower inventories level on the shelf... the average independent pharmacy has a average 30 day inventory on hand .. I have worked for two places that wanted a MAX of a 15 day average inventory. To reach those numbers the "fast moving items" have to be in the 5-7 day level to make up for the slower items to attain the "average".. if you get a run on a particular drug on a given day.. you are out of stock. On a good day in a busy pharmacy is somewhere between organized chaos and a pressure cooker... on "bad days" it is like the 5th ring of hell..
where i use the same pharmacy the pharmacicst has agreed to keep what i need on hand though he knows my cycle in what i need , i though that was very nice of him to do b4 we moved i had used the same chain in maine as i use here in florida , i also think i was very lucky in getting the pharmasist i have , it has been a great working relationship with him thus far ,,,,,,,,,,,, Dave,,,,,,911 oddly enough i have had great luck with CVS

Ihave had that happen to me over and over again at CVS. Now when I call in a prescription, I call and check that they have the med before I leave the house. When you're already at the pharmacy there's not much you can do but come here and scream. Just want you to know it happens to most of us who go to the pharmacy frequently. I hate going there. I think I may change to Costco.
