My husband was just diagnosed with MG. He was barely able to eat due to his facial/chewing/swallowing muscles being so weak and easily fatigued. He started taking Mestinon and felt improvement almost immediately . It sure helps with his eating problem. I know this disease is unique for everyone as is the treatment and meds taken. I would like to know what to expect as far as returning to work. My husband is a welder/fabricator and must climb tall ladders, stoop, bend,lift 50#'s plus, etc. He works in extreme heat/cold temps at times and works night shift. He thinks he will be back to normal and back to hhis old job. From what I have read this disease is unpredictable to some extent and requires close attention and modification of work and lifestyle. Can anyone shed any light on this or give an opinion. Like I said this is new for us and I would like to know what may lay ahead. I think they will start him on cellcept and steroids next week. Does he really need all that?
