Laura & DH, Forevan, Robbysmom, Burk & anyone else heading for treatment…

Just wanted to let you know we’re thinking of you as you all pursue your surgeries & blood patches next week. I know you all are probably anxious about this next big step… We feel it with you and are right by your side (in spirit!)

Hoping for the best possible outcome for all of you! May this be the last intervention you will need and may you all soon return to the lives you lived before this all began. We are here rooting for you!!! :D

P.S. Burk, I know you saw Schievink this week... I hope you're doing well!

Thank you so much. I wish we had all "met" somewhere more fun than here but I am glad to have found such a caring and supportive group of people who understands what this is all about physically, emotionally etc. My hope is that we will all have a healthier 2009!

I have been thinking about this--how many are getting interventions next week. Anna is not getting a EBP (I wish), but first things first. She is getting her LP shunt removed on Monday, February 2.

Best hopes and wishes for everyone!

Cheryl

I too wish from the bottom of my heart for all of you to find relief and that the procedure each and every one of you will be undergoing will be the last one, the one that helps speed up the healing process and return you to feeling good again.

Hi everyone. Thanks for the well wishes.
Rob's treatment was so minor compared with everyone else's this week, that I feel bad posting ... but I figured I'd post anyway. We just got back from his second epidural blood patch. Everything went smoothly. (We did not use any dye due to allergy risk.) Rob got 20cc this time. (This doctor does not usually do more than 20cc, but he did say he did not think he could get any more in. Last time a different doctor did 45cc) Since his leak is slow/intermittent, and we will be following our strict guidelines for the first few weeks, I am not sure how long it will be until we know if this will work or not. I will keep you posted.

Jeanne,

Thank you for letting us know how things went! PLEASE don’t feel bad posting! Any intervention is a big deal and we WANT you to update us! We are all following Robby’s process and are interested in how he's doing.

I’m glad to hear things went smoothly. How’s he doing today? Has the blood patch change his pain level at all? (I know his leak is slow/intermittent so you may not know yet...)

Thanks Mindi :)

Well, it has only been a week since the blood patch - so we do plan on giving it more time before we conclude that it did not help ... but, the headaches seem to be coming back. :( He did near-complete bedrest for the first 3.5 days. He felt very dizzy whenever he moved his head for the first 5 days. The headaches (that to Rob feel like the low pressure headaches) started coming back a couple of days ago. He's been lying flat a lot still. He did unfortunately come down with a cold yesterday, so perhaps the headache is related to that. We'll give it more time and see.

Jeanne,

Just wanted you to know I've been thinking about you and Robby. I'm sorry to hear his headaches are back and it seems the blood patch didn't help. Maybe there will be a delayed effect?

I know what a frustrating and disappointing roller coaster this can be...
