Hello
Friday 30th January 11.30 pm.
Today has been a day of many wonders :)
As it is late, I will just provide heading for you to contemplate, which I will try to fill tomorrow.
OUT TO LUNCH AND THE MEETING MISSED. . . . . .
THE CASE OF THE PSYCHIC PHONE CALLER . . . . .
"HIT HIM ON THE HEAD WITH A HAMMER", says I. . . . .
INFUSING THE NUTRIENTS SLOWLY . . . . .
MASKING.... AFTER HOUR'S SESSION AND THE PEP TALK :)
WRONG WAY.... RIGHT WAY.... GUARDS EVERYWHERE. . . . .
So get your thinking caps on and try and work out what on earth those headings could possibly mean ;)
Regarding the most important subject, Grant the champ :D he is certainly on the improve. During the time that I was with him today from 9 a.m. to 9.30 p.m. he had probably about 20 mild tonic/clonics which didn't go anywhere. However towards the evening he was coughing and spluttering quite a bit so I put on my dietician garb (always have it in a bag with me), and turned off the feeding pump, so there :)
Come back tomorrow in about 24 hours and I will add paragraphs to the above headings. Seeya then.
Paul, Alison and Grant.
PS. The State today just had a first in that it has been the hottest 3 consecutive days ever. The mercury came in at over 45 Celsius = 113 Farenheit = crumbs!

Here is my take on your headlines....
Out to lunch and meeting missed......You stepped out for a quick bite of grub and while you were out they came in to talk and you missed them and they were no where to be found when you arrived back.
The case of the psychic phone caller.......Alison, knowing you both inside and out was calling to tell you about something that just clicked. You were thinking the same thing? LOL
Hit him on the head with a hammer you say? The neuro was such a boob you told Grant to konk him a good one....LOL
Masking and after hours pep talk......After all the docs are gone and the lights are low, you and Grant have a masking party and pep talk.....
Right way is what you and Alison think and know what's right....Wrong way is the so called professionals way of thinking and their guards are always watching to catch you masking....LOL
Cant wait to hear how everything is going. Know you are in my constant love and prayers.....Ma

Hey Ma
Capatin Barbosa might have said looking at your responses Ah, she's on to it or he might not. ;)
Hmm, eighty one folk have read this post but you are the only one to put up some guesses. Seems to me that the explanations may remain empty, unfilled, unwanted, unloved, left in hyperspace; unexplained, a permanent bunch of paradoxes :)
Here is another paragraph heading.
A MOST UNEXPECTED ALLY
So, neuro buddies, if you want to hear all the cool and fascinating news, get guessing :)
Off to hospital to hopefully meet someone who normally isn't there on the weekend; a very special person who may hold the key ;)
I will be back in about 15 hours.

A completely new neuro to the area and he is familiar with and promotes masking......Oh wouldn't that be a 1st....

I haven't got a lot of ideas...but I sure love the suspense! I'll guess the missed meeting was actually a blessing in disguise, because if you and the missing person had actually met, you wouldn't have gotten the psychic phone call that led to Grant conking the neuro proff on the head for taking his mask away... and the charge nurse thought it was such a great routine that she sat in for you with the meeting while Grant was masked, and it's made such a difference that Grant will come home tomorrow.
How'd I do? Not exactly spot on, eh? Dang it...guess I'll have to go count echinda's while waiting for the truth and exciting happenings in Grants world!
Stay cool.... please!?

Some good ideas there Dori :)
Missing the meeting was actually a blessing, but I can't clarify that yet because of the key holder not appearing yet :)
Other good ideas also, but na ;)

Hmm, intriguing.
I'm glad it's good news though...
Key holder...hmmm...way off base but something to do with the Champmobile/chair? I remember all those issues with keeping Grant's head from popping out whist in the Champmobile :(

G'day everyone.
As a few brave folk ventured out from the internet rafters to offer a few guesses here are some but not all explanations.
OUT TO LUNCH AND THE MEETING MISSED. . . . . .
In the morning before coming to the ward I dropped a letter and some documentation off to a very important person who met Grant once on the ward. He phoned the ward acknowledging that he had received the letter. I tootled out to get some lunch and when I did his team (but not him) turned up and didn't turn up again. But I can't say more than that because the possible key holder has not yet turned up. As soon as the possible key holder turns up, I will fill you in ;)
THE CASE OF THE PSYCHIC PHONE CALLER . . . . .
It always goes like this. Why does it always go like this? How does he do it. Does he plan ahead?
Phone rings
'Oh Paul, Graham here. Just ringing up to see how Grant is?..
'Oh that is wonderful. I am so glad Paul....
'Yes I know exactly what you mean. Yes, you are absolutely right...
'How is Alison...?
'How are her parents...?
'How is Alicia...?
'Are you staying the night in hospital?
Now don't get me wrong. All those questions are delightful, sensitive and caring questions.
BUT, Graham has the supernatural skill, and yes it is supernatural, there is no other word for it, to phone at precisely the wrong time. It doesn't matter where I am either at home or in hospital, Graham will phone at the wrong time. When Grant is in hospital, Graham will phone the very moment the doctors walk in to do the rounds, as he did yesterday and today. If I am home, Graham will ring when I have another important phone call in progress or when I urgently have to pick up Grant or even when I am watching Judge Judy., etc, etc... He is faultless in his bad timing. I can almost answer the phone and say 'Hello Graham', his timing is some impeccably wrong! It is some sort of psychic gift I am sure of that. Now if Graham could only use his gift with the horse racing he would be a millionaire.
"HIT HIM ON THE HEAD WITH A HAMMER", says I. . . . .
The neuro ward is on the same floor as the kiddos sleep study section. I always have a bit of a wander around the floor when the nurses are changing Grant's position or nappy. I was sitting right out the front of the kiddos sleep study section yesterday, when a mum appeared at the lifts with her young kiddo in tow, all stuck up with the sleep study wiring.
'Hello' I said. 'Off for a sleep study'
'Yes', said mum. 'Tommy can't sleep at all'.
'Well, why don't you try doing what my son's neurologist once suggested; hit you son on the head with a mallet. That will put him to sleep for sure', I said with a smile.
'Hmm never thought of that' said the mum and off she tootled with her son in tow, looking somewhat perplexed.
Whether or not that was the precise conversation, I will let you decide. But what is 100% true is that Grant's ped neuro, once wrote to us in his report suggesting (hopefully jokingly of course) :) that if Grant continues to not sleep, we should hit him on the head with a mallet = true :)
INFUSING THE NUTRIENTS SLOWLY . . . . .
Grant gets about 15 different nutrients a day. Rather than turn up with a health food store of nutrients, we decided a bit each day would do the trick. So each day I have brought different nutrients in and the doctor has very kindly written them up in the chart, which really is quite wonderful.
MASKING.... AFTER HOUR'S SESSION AND THE PEP TALK
This will be kept a well guarded secret until the possible key holder appears, hopefully tomorrow.
WRONG WAY.... RIGHT WAY.... GUARDS EVERYWHERE. . . . .
Hmm. It was dark in hospital; very dark. Because of the heat wave most of the hospital lights were off. What a wonderful opportunity for me to hijack a computer and contact my neuro buddies, I thought to myself. Ooops didn't mean that. Sorry.
Not only was it dark, but it was late. I was on the way home, or so I thought. Through the one way exit doors I went. "Clunk, Clank", they said to me. 'Don't come back tonight' . I waved innocently to the two guards at the sign out spot. (I didn't have to sign out, because I didn't have to sign in = got in to early. All planned ahead to hide my identity you know).
When I got out of the hospital, I was struck down with stark horror, which drenched me from head to foot. Movement was difficult like walking through lava. The car was parked underneath the hospital and the only way that I could get to the car would be to go back into the hospital. But you see I didn't want to sign in because I had a hospital record, and not the nice type!
I bravely worked out a plan and went back in to the hospital.
Pressing the buzzer I was greeted with 'What's your name and what ward are you going to?
Truth prevailed. 'I just came out but the car is parked in the underneath car park. Can I come through again without signiing in. I am in a hurry and it is so hot' I asked.
'Okay. It's been a hot day. Come on through and don't sign in', was the tired and sweaty reply, which dripped from the loud speaker at the door.
I quickly opened the non exit doors and wandered through the dark hospital to the stairs going one way down to the car park and escaped again :)
It was an interesting day; that's for sure.
Seeya at the next post.
Paul.
