View Full Version : Eye Strain at night???

Hi,
this past week or two I have been waking up with a pain behind my eyes, and
a tightness in the back of my head, around and above my neck.

I had a colloid cyst removed in March 2005 which had a complication of hydrocephalus (which on the last MRI in June was no longer apparent)

I am wondering if it is because I stress my eyes out by tightening them while I sleep, or if it is a sinus problem, but wouldn't this continue throughout the day? (I thought I had a sinus infection before a CT scan detected the cyst).

I no longer have health insurance because I have relocated to Ireland and not sure if I am entitled to an MRI or if I should be worried at this time.
Perhaps I need to see an optician?
Anyway have any ideas???
Tracie.

Do you wear glasses? Contact lenses? Having your eyes checked by whatever kind of eye care professional is available to you might be a good place to start. Cheerio.

Thanks Tootsie,

I don't wear either contacts or glasses, but I have just made an appointment to get my eyes checked and will take it from there!

I have no knowledge of the health care system in Ireland. However, if the eye care professional finds nothing wrong, I would start with your neighborhood general practitioner. Try and get all your medical records with the history of the cyst by writing to the Medical Records Department of the hospital where you were treated. Without them, you may be given the brush off by a socialized medicine system. The records may give the G.P enough to refer you on to specialists in Neurology. Make copies for yourself to keep as they may get lost once they are passed around. Cheerio.

That is good advice Tootsie,
Yes, I already have my records...I moved from NYC to Ireland and so I made sure that I brought my first MRI (with cyst) and last MRI (without cyst)
I am not sure if my new Dr will want to keep my records, I don't want to give them up and run the risk of losing them..I think that Ireland is different than NY where your records belong to you!
I will go to my GP if the eye exam doesn't reveal anything.
Thanks,
Tracie.
