It's that time again!
So come on all you Poms and Aussies......
Let's see some Pride, Disgust, Sorrow, Elation and all round enjoyable ribbing at this very special time.
As last year, I shall start the ball rolling...........(so to speak)..............
C'mon Aussie C'mon , C'mon
C'mon Aussie C'mon:D :) ;)

They are fine with us thanks, Noong.
Oi Oi Oi
bewolf, the sacred little urn is actually not physically with you all at present.
In fact... They're sitting in the Queensland Museum, not far from me, under very, very intense security!!!

The Ashes Exhibition
12 - 22 November 2006
I had to laugh when I saw the arrival of The Ashes in Australia. Apparently they sat tightly secured in their seat belt and all on their own in a business class seat all the way from sunny England. :)
Edited to add:
Speaking of cricket balls...
I forgot to mention the weird and wonderful weather we're having.
Electrical storm in Brisbane the arvo before last with hail the size of cricket balls. Some were nearly as big as a mango.
We had snow in the Granite belt yesterday. SNOW?! Raging fires not too far away.
It's even chilly here this morning in sunny qld (well, chilly for us anyway, probably hot for some) although starting to heat up with the sun. One day it was maxed out to 30C and the next thing we knew it, it was maxed out to just over 20C. Summer starts technically in 2 weeks. This is totally weird weather.
Check out any pics. of the icebergs floating off the coast of New Zealand if you can. They're spectacular!

"PSSSSSSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTT Lara"
<=====looks left
=====>looks right :cool:
2:36am Saturday morning.
Back service entrance of the Qld Museum
Slip "Barry" the guard $200
He'll let you in and give you a cricket bat.
Make your way to the 2nd floor and slip "Gary" $200
You'll be led to "Ashes Land"
When confronted by the next 2 guards, pose as Flintoff with the bat and say that you're just checking on things.
Offer said guards a warming port (as we know it's gotten a little cool up in QLD of late).
When they're suitably sloshed; pinch the Ashes and run like heck!!!
Hee Hee
Maybe I need a hobby eh?
Or maybe it's the fact that BOND has just bought out his new movie.......:D

LOL Noong :D
Lara
I love thunderstorms and watching lightening - seems to jumpstart the season. Hope no one was stuck outside and injured by that hail. A person would need a helmet for hail that size!
Dear Kathy,
Yes, I love a good tropical thunderstorm. We were lucky with that last big one. Unfortunately they always seem to happen here somewhere between school getting out after 3 and peak hour traffic at 5-6pm after a steamy hot day which can be very chaotic. There's something about the smell of rain that takes me back to my childhood when we lived near sugar cane farms in the far north. I love it.
Cricket... well, just heard on the news that the Balmy Army has arrived in preparation for tomorrow. lol
Not long now...

There are two teams, one Out on the field, and one In.
Each member of the team that's In comes Out and then he's In until the team that's Out gets him Out at which point he goes In.
Sometimes, you get people still In and Not Out.
The team that is In has two men playing out until they are Out.
The team that is not In have 11 men out until it is their time to be In.
When everbody has been both In and Out twice, including the Not Outs, the game ends... which can take about 3 days to happen.
The games are not games they are tests, which is the name of the games.
Not all the Overs need to be over when the game is over, then there can be some maiden Overs.
Then there can be somebody that is In can be Out for a duck then he goes in.
Some of the fielding positions in cricket are:
Fine Leg
Deep Fine Leg
Silly Point
Silly Mid Off
Silly Mid On
Square Short Leg
Short Leg
Forward Short Leg
Square Leg
Deep Square Leg
Gully
Hope that helped. :D
Another word for OUT is OWZAT.
Didn't hear too much of that one yesterday.
Nor did we see too many bowlers bowling a maiden over. ;)
Relative humidity at 5.45am is 82%.
Expected max 29C.
Yesterday didn't feel that humid to me, so there might be a change in the pitch today.

Australia 9/602 dec
ENG 3/53 (17.0 overs)
Thats 3 down and 7 to go till we bat again.
Umm... still early days yet.
bewolf, it's been glorious weather for cricket. More to come today. I'm impressed that there were no reported arrests considering the large capacity crowd. Not sure how long that will last though.
Sun is shining here ready for another day. :)
I know another cricket word.
That's the word WARNIE. Now, when saying Warnie, one needs to say it over and over like this...
WARNIE! WARNIE! WARNIE! :p
from Cricket.com.au (http://www.cricket.com.au/default.aspx?s=bigwarnie) :D
[p.s. I must admit I'd run for the hills if I had the towering Andrew Flintoff bowling at me at full speed!]

Hi Guys,
Just read your posts and it certainly has brightened my day.
Re: Cricket - 'SMELL THE ASHES' !!!!
It's a warm day today but no time for a dip in the pool.
Thanks Lara for all your support re: my Mum - you're a sweetie !!!!
Enjoy this wonderful day !!!!
x Janette
It's a bit of a scorcher. Be nice at the beach with a breeze.
I don't envy you out and about in it today, Janette. I hope the day goes well for you.
Yay... another one bites the dust as I type this. lol

MODS...MODS PLEASE bann Noong.
She is being cruel to us Wolves (I have already reported her to the RSPCA :p ),
AND,of course, to us Pomms too.
Little does she know that the pommie's 'Barmy army' already have her address. .
Personal note to HRH Queen Noong.
This is only the first test. We are just lulling you Ozzies into a false sense of security, (in order for the bookies to change the odds, then we can make a come back later - and make a Killing! )

Oh dear dear me.
I wonder if Queen Noong's memory has been affected?
Us pomms lost the first test match last time!...
I wonder if she can remember the final outcome?
Still early days my dear, still early days.

Before I go any further, Sir Wolf.
The title is HRH Queen Noong (purple for regality, as you know!)
Just a couple of points and then I shall away...........
1. I believe the loss of the first test this time is simply an omen of things to come for the English cricket side. Their day is done and they will now go back to being, well, shall we say, not terribly good....:p
2. The Barmy Army did in fact arrive at my door and on giving them a nice COLD beer, their brains promptly froze. Though it was difficult to tell as the expression didn't change all that much.......;)
3.I contacted my bookie and when I asked about England's odds, he went into a hysterical laughing fit and has yet to be revived........:)
And now I go (the cricket's on the tele):D

551 - 6 ... Noong has gone quiet all of a sudden
LOL bewolf.
They had a better couple of days than they did at the Gabba, hey.
It sure was a bit of a slog to watch on the tellie though. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Another day almost ready to go. Just a couple of hours now and the weather looks pretty fine and mild there today from what the bureau said. I hope it's a day filled with a little more action. ;)

*larabitingnailsagain
EDITED to add, a few minutes later.
Gotta give credit to Hoggard - 7 for 109 or something like that.
Darn good effort!

I hope your computer problems are sorted very soon. I'll just leave this little tidbit for when you get back.

SEE?
Told you it was a stupid game :(
Nah, it's a super game. I say that win or lose.
It's been a long 15 months without it here.
Looking forward to the Boxing Day test now. We've got a long summer of cricket ahead of us here.
Pretty different conditions out here for your team, bewolf. Much harsher weather and pitch conditions, plus the aussies were determined this time to get them back after feeling the shame 15 months ago.
It's been exciting to watch. Test matches aren't always that exciting. lol

I thought as thread starter, I should be thread..ender?
Well they're over again for another little while.
A harder fought contest, you'd be hard pressed to find.
The Poms were fantastic, maybe the Aussies a little better,
But as we all know it's more about the get together.
Comrades in arms, with ties so strong,
And now that the game is all said and done and you've gone;
We say "warm up the pot me old china, We'll be there soon.
Just remember to turn on the SUN, not the Moon!"
Raise your glasses...........
Another great ASHES!!!!!!!:D
