Please check side effects of your meds you will be surprised that ringing in the ears may be one. Just ask your Dr. for something else and of course read there side effects. I found out 4 medS I was on caused ringing and now I am ring free and you could be too. :)

Rozia, thanks for the reminder as I have read about ringing in the ears. I am glad you could change your meds and get clear hearing back.

Rozia,
Thanks for posting this. I used to get ringing in my ears the times I took Bextra, Vioxx and Celebrex. I have no clue as to why; just those particular anti inflammatories. What were the meds you were taking that you were able to stop?
I think this is a good warning about side effects in general. It is so important to know what it is you are taking, what to look out for, and how it interacts with your other meds, your disease, and your body overall. This is especially important for those of us with multiple medical issues, chronic diseases, long lists of meds, etc.

Thank you very much for posting this! I had not realized it was an issue with these meds. I actually got a whole bunch of tests done on my ears last year to see if there was something wrong because it was effecting my hearing. I should have known to look for another doctor when he read over my list of meds and didn't know what half of them were for.
Thanks again for the information! I will definitely have a chat with my doc!

kathi Bextra, Vioxx and Celebrex are all on the list . a derevative of Ibuprofen . So you are probably whistling Dixie very loudly. Just ask your dr. to maybe try something else and do Like I do take a pocket meds book and look them up at the drs office. The dr. will understand.

Here is a list of medications that can cause ringing in the ear:
- ANTIFLAMMITORIES
- SEDATIVES
- ANTIBIOTICS
- ANTIDEPRESSANTS
- ASPIRIN
These medications are known to be toxic to the ear. These might help solve the problem of infection or depression, but can be some of the tinnitus causes you have been dealing with. Allergy medications are known to worsen the symptoms of tinnitus because they can thicken the mucous in the inner ear which does not drain properly.
While it is clear that medications can contribute to tinnitus causes, it is also clear that there may be a better path to take to get relief from tinnitus that can cure your tinnitus and just might cure your other ailments. There are natural tinnitus remedies that are known to permanently cure your tinnitus without harmful side effects! Sometimes the very best way to a lasting cure is easier than you think.
Put an end to your ringing in the ear now! It is wonderful .

Thanks Rozia,
I think you might have misunderstood me though. Vioxx, Celebrex and Bextra were taken at SEPARATE times through the years. ;) Come to think of it I believe Elavil was another one. But also, some of this stuff could have been coming from my spine along with dizziness. I don't have any ringing now or any other strange sounds like I did before.

Rozia,
The list is a long one. Most of the meds I am either taking or have tried cause Tinnitus.
My ears have a very high pitched hiss. Very irritating
BT has a Tinnitus forum.
