Have any of you noticed if cold temps make your PN worse? Since my anodyne therapy stopped and I dont have my home unit yet and the cold temps are setting in, my neuropathy has come back and really hitting. The neurologist I had before said I have compression neuropathy so its mostly when I put any pressure on my hands or feet then the tingling/pins and needles hits but also at other times.

either suffer from false impressions/reactions to heat or cold. Damaged nerves send skewed signals to the brain, then back to your system.

Look up in this site 'diabetic neuropathy' and learn how your sensory nerves don't tell your body/brain what really is or isn't helping. It's technical but you will bet a lot of understanding. Trick in the meantime is to keep toes and other parts SAFELY warm. That means not using a heating pad or the like all the time. This site is:

The Electronic Textbook of Dermatology http://telemedicine.org/stamford.htm
On the index go to the diabet. neuro box and click and read away!

Hope this helps! - j

For me cold temps, either outdoor or drafts from air condicioners, can increase cramping. These leg cramps can appear from toes to upper thighs and jump around. This condition seems to be connected with my PN. Quinine Sulfate so far has been working well.:)

:( Cold here now and this morning my hands ache so bad. Technically, I think any change in our enviroment triggers changes in our health.

I feel any change in the weather, mostly from barometric pressure changes, but cold winter weather affects me too. My answer, fuzzy slippers and a sheepskin from New Zealand as a lap robe. A Siamese cat, and a Beagle, to snuggle on the sofa with- helps a lot too. :>)

My sister who has this illness does not feel any cold at all. She walks her dogs every morning for about an hour in NY weather. She she is new to this I wonder if it is effecting her and she doesn't know it yet.

I don't know if it's the PN or arthritis as both have been flaring.

Does she have pain? Then she knows, this affect us at different leavels.

One of my problems is that I can't feel the cold before it gives pain! This messed up nerve-signals doesnt make sence.
My neurologist made an cold/warm test to find this out. I cann't feel warmth either, before it really hurts.
So I have to take care not to burn my self( or freeze)
But the terrible pain, that I can feel.
