Hey everyone,
Hope you all are doing well. I just wanted to share some information that I recently learned from one of my doctors. Turns out that Lithium can cause major complications for patients with RSD. It even affects pain levels! I was on Lithium for Bipolar disorder and my doctor told me to switch to a different medication as soon as possible to see if any of my symptoms are relived at all. However, I have no news to report of any changes yet. The psychiatric nurse practioner I had been going to for almost two years is a total pain in the butt and I suspect she needs medication herself. Would you believe that she would NOT switch my medications? She said it was unnecessary and ridiculous; that physical conditions are not at all affected by mental health! Being a psychology major I know that is a load of crap so I am now in the process of switching to a new psychiatrist. This new psychiatrist actually took the time to talk to my doctor to find out more about RSD which is something the psychiatric nurse practioner wouldn't even do at my request. So far I have a good feeling about this new doc and hope the change in medications proves to be worth while. Hope this can be of some help!
Best wishes,
Jennifer
