I'm New to this website, so hopefully this will appear ~

I am 45 years old and have dealt with Epilepsy since I was 15yo. My physicians are at Cedars Sinai here in Souther California. They are please that my present medications are doing wonderful at controlling the full grand mal seizures (haven't had one in 8 months now. The longest time ever), but not content with the fact that I have 2 days every 2 to 3 weeks of dealing with heavy duty auras which keep me in my room (quiet, no bright light, etc). which has put limits on my career, etc.

Anyway, the doctors have been pursuing (GREATLY) for me to have the VNS implant. They think it will be what it will take for me to be 'normal' all month long. Anyway, I have asked to talk with others who have had the implant and the people they have connected me with are really nice, but were in situation soooo much more severe than mine. Having 20ish grandmals per month! Anyway, before deciding to have it, I REALLY NEED TO TALK WITH OTHERS IN A SEMI-SAME CONDITION AS MINE THAT HAVE THE IMPLANT. I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS AND HOPE TO FIND SOMEONE THAT CAN ANSWER THEM.

I HOPE YOU ARE OUT THERE, READ THIS, AND HAVE THE TIME TO EMAIL ME. IT WILL BE WONDERFUL.

THANK YOU

LIZARD

Welcome, Lewis! :)

I have two recommendations, and one may be weird to you, but I think they can help. Check out the Child Neuro forum here: http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=115 and, of course, the Epilepsy forum, here: http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=144

Good luck!

LIZARD :)
