I just found this interesting article (http://cats.about.com/od/youandyourcat/a/catsandautism.htm).
Interesting article!! We have several cats, and my son does relate to them. He doesn't talk to them, but he does give them spontaneous affection, which he does with NONE of the human occupants of our home. I keep expecting one of them to scratch or bite him when he loves them a little "too much", but they never do.
He doesn't like dogs at all, but we have one. The dog jumps and licks at all of us except Keith, and he basically leaves Keith alone. They tolerate each other, I guess.
I think pets are important to all of us, not just people with autism. There is nothing more relaxing to me that to have a cat sleeping on my lap!
