Hi Niki, can you tell whether the last surgery made any difference in the pain level? I know you're still in the after-op stage of things but I was hoping that if the teflon was an irritant that just getting rid of it might make an improvement. My bestest wishes that all is going well - Nancy

hopefully you'll be well enough to pop in here and let us know how you are?
I am wondering as I know others are?
Hugs, Ellena:)

Heya,

How nice of you to ask!

Have been doing really well - recovering well and with really only the anesthesia dolerosa causing pain. The odd occasional tweek of TN pain.

However - yesterday I had a biggy attack that lasted most of the day - eventually brought under control by lots of fentynyl. I feel really fragile today, but the pain is more constant than paroxysmal. It was the start of my period so that might be an explaination, but I feel pretty depressed, although I am trying not to - after all it IS still early days. Sigh.

My face is still really numb though, no change there, but my ear infection seems to have healed up! I've been managing to walk to and back from the horses (5 min walk both ways) and do the horses once a day (friend does them in the morning), although not yesterday or today.

So please tell me that I shouldn't panic or get depressed! I mean, I had a bad attack in hospital (day 3 after the steriods stopped) which only lasted an hour or so, and yesterday was the first since - so even if this is it, I'm far better off than I was having attacks like that most days!! Sorry to be down though!

Hugs Niki ***

Niki,

Never having been through the surgery, I can't say much to that. But common sense wise - its way too early!!!! So, chin up and remain optimistic. I'm skeptical of those who come out of this without pain immediately - not to say it can't happen, it just doesn't make sense. All the accounts I've read indicate turbulent waters for the first few weeks to months, so I'm probably telling you things you already know, but may have put aside. Just try to remain optimistic and give it time. This horrible condition has been with you for quite awhile. Give it time! (thats redundant, I know, but you really do need to give it time) Besides, you can just post here and you know lots of people will chime in.

I checked the chat room last night, but noone was there!

Biggg, Bigggg, hugs to you! Love, Ellena xx:)

Hey Niki
You are absolutely right when you say it's very early. I remember when I had my first attack after the MVD. It was in the hospital the day after the surgery. Not really major, but it was most definitely TN. I was devistated. I continued to have attacks off and on for the next 3 months. With each twinge I went into these deep depressions. For some reason, miraculously those attacks stopped after 3 months post MVD. It truly is an emotional roller coaster. I think that's human nature. Try to stay positive and realistic. You havent had enough time to even come close to being healed. You know that. So roll with the punches and try to keep your chin up. Take a lot of pleasure in enjoying your horses and try not do what I did....obsess over every pain.
