So, we had this terrible ice storm last Thursday through Friday. Due to budget constraints, the district has decided to cancel school instead of making the member towns clear roads at a much greater expense. But, this ice storm has led to this part of the state being declared a federal disaster area. Luckily, I don't live at a high elevation.

Due to continued problems with the storm, school was closed Monday and today. Now, we are expecting 3-6 inches of snow. This can cause more trees to come down on power lines. So, they are cancelling tomorrow as well! So, counting last week, the weekend, and this week, that is a full week off of school.

There is an upside to this. Instead of having two weeks off at the end of the summer before summer school starts, Carly will have another 5 days of school.

But, now she will be home tomorrow. Today, I had a pca and she came early. We went to the mall. They walked around the mall and I went across the road to Whole Foods. I may have the pca tomorrow -don't know.

Plus, tomorrow is my BIRTHDAY! THE BIG 50!:eek::eek::eek::eek: And I'm hoping that the weather isn't too bad so we can go out to dinner. We are planning to go to this little cafe right down the street. It's expensive --but very highly rated. I did buy a birthday cake today so that I can celebrate with the kids. My parents are visiting over the weekend. Thursday, I'll play music and celebrate with my friends at the pub.

I'm not getting much work done either.

Happy birthday! What a long week it must be with school closing! I know I am trying to plan things to do with Caitlin during xmas break. Hope you're able to get out tomorrow to celebrate! :) Is it spring yet?? My poor fingers go numb loading and unloading the wheelchair everywhere we go!! We are getting snowed on again here...hopefully school is not closed because we have no appointments tomorrow and I am planning on getting some cleaning done at home, but that won't happen if all the kids are stuck here! :)

All the best to you Deborah on your 50th birthday! Mine was this past May, and it was one I'll never forget! I hope you have a great time, and that dinner is more than worth the price! And more than ANYTHING, I hope your PCA can come, and give you just a bit of respite for your special day!

Happy Birthday... (Are you making a wish for NO MORE SNOW?? ;) )

Hey Deb.

The big 50 just means that you are still a spring chicken (Australian slang for young :) = no worries :D

We hope you have a great birthday.

Don't forget that we are all waiting patiently to see a video of you playing.

Seeya,

Paul, Alison and Grant.

Robin and everyone -

We did get out last night. We walked into the center of town to a great little place called Gypsy Apple. We ordered appetizers of crab cakes and home made gnocchi with bolognese sauce. Really delicious. Then Duane had a grilled salmon, Jeremy had home made ravioli with spinach and ricotta cheese stuffing, and I had red curry shrimp which was spicy, but great. The place holdes maybe 18 people when full! The chef/owner is named Michaelangelo, but we all call him M-A.

Duane and Jeremy gave me a speaker/clock for my ipod, new ear phones for it (I don't like the ear buds, these have clips), and a transmitter so I can play the ipod on the car radio.

My folks are supposed to come tomorrow, but we may have bad weather - we will have bad weather. They are predicting 6 inches of snow, although after living up here for 13 years, that doesn't seem like a lot anymore. It's enough to close school, but I don't feel stranded. It gets cleaned up pretty quickly.

We are getting a heating oil delivery today - $1.69/gal! Duane shopped around. We got our last delivery around October 8. I'm amazed it lasted this long because it hasn't been warm at all.
