That was so touching and cute!!! But one thing that's making me really mad, did anyone read the comments at the bottom?? In the first comment they called her the "R" word!!! :mad::mad: I'm sitting here biting my tongue!!! :(

Yeah, the guy/girl is just an idiot. Best to let it go. Certainly not worth the effort to correct and certainly not something to threaten over, as did one person. This child is not at all "retarded". She if physically disabled, but her cognition is fine. And that is obvious to anyone who actually paid any attention. I don't think that the person who posted that comment even believed what he/she said...I think it was just to stir people up...you know...someone just being a jerk to be a jerk. So let him/her be a jerk and enjoy the story while pleasantly ignoring it. The only way to make that sort of thing stop on the internet is to ignore it.

Ditto to what Lacy said - it says more about those people than it does about her. Lovely story, Mary is gorgeous and very articulate for an 8-year-old - brilliant seize-the-day attitude that we could all do well to emulate! No fear or embarrassment either, way to go Mary!
