I am relocating to Cape Coral, Florida and would really appreciate if anyone knows of a few good doctors. I need to find a primary care doctor, an orthopaedic surgeon, and a neurosurgeon. To give you some history a little over two years ago i had two aneurysms to be clipped, the surgeon clipped one and not the other(said nothing about it, i found out through a nurse) anyway i was his last patient. two weeks after my surgery he committed sucide, leaving me with a blotched surgery. 7 weeks after surgery i fell down a flight of stairs and broke my ankle. the orthopaedic surgeon in a small rural hospital screwed it together wrong and now i have a crushed ankle. i have been told i now need ankle replacement surgery. i have been in tremendous pain for too long, but have a fear of doctors ,because of what has happened. i have not had one pain free day for over two years and now i cannot cope with it no longer. i live alone, but in Florida i have someone to stay with and pray for direction to the doctors i need and to be able to once again have faith and trust in medical care. i will travel anywhere in the state to see a neurosurgeon, but hope to find the other two in or near Cape Coral. can anyone help? Thanks. Kyria

Hi Kyria,
I live in Florida and here are the doctors I have thoroughly checked out and have been using.
My Neurologist is Dr. Bruce Zaret in Sunrise FL. I have been seeing him for about 10 years and he has completed changed my quality of life after a drunk driver hit me and messed up my head and neck, causing severe migraines, neck pain, etc. He also was the only Dr. to listen to me this year with all of my problems and he found my 7 mm annie in NOV and I just had it coiled in DEC!
Dr. Zaret sent me to see Dr. Duong at Regional Memorial in Hollywood Florida. Dr. Duong is the Neurosurgeon that did the coiling for me and he is awesome. He taught at Columbia University and is the Director of the Neurosurgery Department at Regional Memorial. His secretary that sets up everything is ROSE and she calls you at each step to let you know, Ok, I did this so it is set up, etc. She is so efficient and so NICE!
Definitely tell them I sent you because I LOVE THESE GUYS, THEY SAVED MY LIFE! From Cape Coral I think your drive would be like 1.5 to 2 hrs one way but it is completely worth it! Dr. Zaret is my Neurologist and when I saw him at the beginning about 10 years ago all I could do was lay around and try not to move or my head and neck or it would make me severely sick. After seeing him for a very short time, I was able to have a great life again! Let me know if you need any other info. Good luck! Courtney

Hey Kyria and Courtney
The quality of the Doctors can make this whole Aneruysm Experience either easy
or a huge grind. Sounds like you got GREAT doctors Courtney! I'm lucky as I like mine
too. I feel for the folks who get the Dr's or staff that don't seem to care. We need
questions answered fast and a lot of assurance as we go thru this.
Hey Courtney - you were right on the money. Cape Corral to Sunrise ....
Estimated Time: 2 hours 8 minutes Estimated Distance: 130.21 miles :)

I am wondering something; did you have the aneurysm at the time of the accident or did it develop after? Where i live it is a two hour drive to go anywhere so that is no problem. I am really looking forward to going to florida. i am freezing here. do any of u notice the cold makes the surgery area hurt more? other then the people in florida. (you are so lucky). I am having trouble making that first step to line up a doctors appt. the surgeon that messed me up was 'chief of staff' of the neurology dept. at the hospital and the people i asked about him were insulted that i would even question his abilities. doctors, lawyers, governors, no matter the title still just human with all the frailties. Kyria,
I too have a great doctor in Florida. His name is Dr. Brian Hoh and he is located at Shands U of FL, Gainesville. He specializes in aneurysms and performed a clip procedure for me in June. Hope this helps.

I have received a lot of recomendations of doctors and i really appreciate it. The private messages have lifted me up and i feel my prayers have been answered for finding a neurosurgeon. A former patient is the best for giving advise about their own doctor and i thank this board for being here and the members who reach out and take the time to respond. God bless you all and to all a very merry christmas!! Kyria
