My problem started 3 years ago. It began, just as I went into menopause,
I felt a little tingling sensation across the top of my nose. At the same time,
the top and bottom 4 teeth began to feel sensitive, but there was no pain at first. About Mid February, I started experiencing razor sharp pain in the top and bottom 6 teeth and I got worse after eating and as the day goes on.
Then in March my ear felt like I had an ear infection as well as a stuffy sensation in my ear. Trips to the dentists (3) and an ENT, an x-ray revealed
nothing wrong with my teeth or ears. By mid March I went to see a neurologist because by now, my mouth, tongue and roof of my mouth was
burning and the nerves in my teeth were experiencing excruciating pain.
I was told I had TN and prescribed anti-seizure meds for 4-6 months.
No relief. In August, another trip to specialists in Birmingham (neurologists)
where they conducted lab tests, CAT scans, MRI's and PET scans, all which
revealed nothing.
I was prescribed lyrica and sent home. No relief after 2-3 months of lyrica.
Over time, I continue to have chronic pain and now numbness in all of my
teeth as well as tingling, burning, and numbness in my hands and feet,
and my head feels numb and at times I hear a clicking sound in my head
especially when I talk. I thought perhaps the ambien that I took for 7 years
often more than the prescribed dose, might be what has triggered my problem. I have had more tests done by neurologists, dentists, internists, ob/gyn, tmj doctor, chiropractors, naturopath doctor, immunologists and
presently a doctor(internist) who has diagnosed me with candida. 4 and a half
months of treatment have no alleviated my pain, numbness, burning, tingling,
muscle aches and pains or the clicking sound in my head. I am continuing with treatment and now taking the candida vaccine as well as nystatin and diet. My condition continues to worsen, my face , especially around my mouth becomes numb after eating. In three years I have gone to having just
a tingling across the top of my nose, to excruciating teeth and oral pain and painful burning and numbness in my hands and feet sometimes so bad that I
can hardly walk. And doctors are dumbfounded. Is there anyone out there
who can help me? I am at my wits end. I work full time and at the end of
the day for the last 2 years I have to go straight to bed because I am in so much pain. Please someone, help me!!!!! Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Hi Susan and welcome. I know you have had your share of pain just by reading here. We have an active TN forum here and folks are very helpful. I myself have Idiopathic Peripheral neuropathy, TN and meniere's, to name just a few fo my stressful things.

Look aroubd at all the forums and join in anywhere. My favorite place to post is the Emotional Forum. There is a large group of people who meet there just about daily and share our woes and happy things as well. I know you are no stranger to pin and for me, I have to keep some of my happier thoughts in my head or else I'd just crawl into bed and stay there.

Has any of the doctors mentioned trigeminal neuralgia or anything of the sort? Please stay with us and post often so we can keep up with how you are doing.
