Hello,
I started reading about dyspraxia and to my surprise it described my daugther! but a lot of the articles mentioned that is more common on males. All the information is overwhelming; need some feedback from anybody to help me understand this; she is 17 and the gap is getting bigger and bigger between kids her age; needless to say she does not like to socialize with anybody. The last two years have been very difficult, because we are all coming to the realization to her illness? Till yesterday everyone called it learning disabilty with add; now not sure. Will make sure she gets test it by her physician.
I am very confuse, scare and need some pointers from parents or adults that are facing this.

Thanks

((((((((HUGS)))))))).

Is it speech or motor dyspraxia? (I personally don't doubt that most doctors dx "ADD/ADHD" because they have no clue what's really wrong. )

Supposedly Dyspraxia is more common in males than females, but I believe most cases typically stay undiagnosed. Personally I think it is found more in males because we expect males to be better at things physically. My daughter, 7 years old, has Dyspraxia. I'm afraid she has some of the accompanying issues that go along with it such as ADHD, Dyslexia, and nonverbal learning difficulties. I would certainly start getting appointments to get your daughter diagnosed. Dyspraxia comes in so many degrees - some are slightly affected and some are quite severe. My sister has a friend whose daughter has it and she was unable to walk until she was almost 2 and struggles greatly.

Please visit my website so you can read more about what Dyspraxia is and I have some great links to other resources on it. I am sorry that your daughter has gone so many years fighting with this without being diagnosed.
