ok so I posted my whole newbie rant under a previous thread since I had no idea how to work this board. I think it has something to do with my memory issues and such currently. Any how I am new to this board and am hoping to connect with those out there who are feeling or have felt as I do now. I wish everyone well and a wonderful day. Look forward to sharing with you all
Warmly,
Michell

Hello everyone,
I am new today to this board and wanted to say hello. I was recently (June)diagnosed with what drs. thought was a second aneursym. I was having horrible headaches and other issues and was sent to see a neurosurgeon. On the day of my initial appt. (Oct. 21)the doctor spent 10 minutes asking questions about my recent change in headaches and turned and said ok here is what we are going to do... you are going into the hospital today, having and angio tomorrow and surgery on the following day (type to be determined after angio). I was terrified and the bottom seemed to drop out. We were not prepared at all for that to occur. The aneursym was located in my p-com and the decision to clip or coil was tossed around and ultimately coiling was decided but in a two step process. The first surgery the surgeon placed stents and then after being in the hospital flat on my back with a sheath in my artery some genius decided that it was a great idea to send my home less than 24 hours after the stents were placed. Mind you I had not moved off my back in over 48hrs and I was in such pain from headaches and light/noise sensitivity that I was flying high on meds they were giving me. I came home and to my families dismay I proceeded to decline quite rapidly. By Monday I was slurring, couldn't remember anything and finally spoke with a nurse from my doctors office who told me to get to the nearest hospital right away. Long story short was transferred back to the original hospital of the surgery and spent an additional week there recovering from a mini stroke. I left the hospital and had home p/t and a nurse visit for the next 3 weeks. I was then back in the hospital just last wed. for the second part of my surgery/treatment. They put the coils in place and let me go the very next day again. Although this time I felt as though I was ok to leave (mind you not thrilled at being pushed out but at least better than the last time). I am at home now and have a ton of questions about what is normal in recovery and such but not one of the docs ever seem to be able to help out with that, I got more information from the brain aneursym foundation than anywhwere and am hoping that some of you here will be able to help me out with some of this. I seem to have good days and bad and am still facing a couple of other issues diagnosed in the process of the aneurysm stuff. I have an eye condition and also a lesion on my pituitary gland. I am just feeling overwhelmed and also as though docs don't seem to get as involved as they should with the human side of things. Any way thanks soo much for allowing me to vent this all out, it seems so winded and yet not even half of the story.
Wish all here a wonderful day

Hi Michell, I am also a newbie (hence my username :p) on this board. I can only speak from a perspective of a family member as I do not have an aneurysm myself.
I can sympathize with your predicament. My mum's aneurysm came out of nowhere and really rocked out family. We were struggling a lot and this was the last thing we needed. I think the most important thing is to just hang in there and hopefully things will eventually get better.
I notice your aneurysm is in the same location as my mum's one (the first one) which was also treated via coiling. It did take a while for her to get back to full strength, so just give it time and your body will do the rest. From reading the experiences of other people in similar situation, people do have ups and downs post-operation so just stay positive and keep talking on here - like I am (It really helps).
Good luck with your recovery!...someone else will come along with more information/knowledge.
Take care.

Newbie-
Thank you soo much for the message, I think I read about your Mum's and the rest of your families experience earlier today, you all seem to have had it a bit rougher than I/we did. I am glad to hear your Mum has improved each day. Thanks again for the kind words,
Michell
