Is this where I would request a new forum?
If so, I would like to request a Foot Disorders forum, please.
Thanks and just to let you know I really appreciate this website:)

There are millions of people with this disease and I happen to be one of them. I'm hoping we could have a forum for it as I think it would be a benefit to many people.

Not a new forum -- but could you rename "Single Parents with Disabling Conditions" so it is for *all* disabled parents? Just drop the "single" bit? Thank you!

Several of us in chat have started sharing books worth reading. Many of us who are disabled and especially those who can't drive spend a lot of time reading and would really enjoy a forum where we could suggest good books. BT's own little book club. These books could be of any genre and juvenile to adult. I for one would check this site daily. My first two suggestions would be Our Mothers War which looks at a myriad of ways women participated in WW II and Embrace the Dawn which is one woman's life with E. Thanks for considering this Annmarie
I second booklover's request for a book club type forum. I think that'd be well used.

Thanks Lara for the reminder...
Many of us read (some ALOT) and reading provides a form of education and
therapy for the soul. Sharing others' thoughts/experiences is a huge factor
in moving forward with challenges both emotional and physical. And of course, entertainment ;) should not be forgotten!
The only other thing that comes close for me is MUSIC.
So perhaps a Book/Music thread?
Please, please!?

Just wanted to say that the requests have been noted. If/when the re-orginizing gets started is when the new forums may be added.

Dear Mike,
I think I asked this somewhere else but in case I didn't, I would like Gifted and Learning Disabled Individuals to be renamed Savant Syndrome and Similar.

Penny.

with all the boards there are here, i was shocked that there is no board for issues people have with employment do to their health issues! i thought there was, but all i see is workers comp, and not everyones work issues involve workers comp, for example asking for reasonable accomodations per the americans with disabilities act
as much as i dislike the never-ending additions of boards, i think having such a board would be very useful to a whole lot of people
if there isn't one that i just am not seeing in spite of repeated scrolls, would whoever is in charge of these things consider adding such a board?
thanks

I second this because of the "single" I don't post or read there. If it was dropped I would start. ;)

I seem to recall that this forum - Single Parents with Disabling Conditions - was established at the request of a number of members. As single parents, who were disabled, they felt that there were extra problems that they faced that those with partners didn't. Their disabling condition(s) could be addressed in the other forums, but this one was to give them a chance to get support, vent etc.

The forum is still there...:p
Look for it in the General Subjects (http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=8) section.
The link to the forum is here...

Requesting a forum for Oppositional Defiant Disorder. Perhaps as a subforum of ADHD.

Are there others that share the need here now, or would we be reaching out?
Oppositional Defiant Disorder...
I'd need to look that up just to put the forum description under it.
I would be interested in a forum for Hemochromatosis which is Iron Overload and definately can affect the brain.
Thanks,
Izzy~

Izzy, my father died from this 9 years ago. He wasn't diagnosed until he was 65 and it was too late. My brothers have it and are being treated. I am a carrier and my son has it, and at 25 was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. It can affect every organ in the body if not treated.

Can we have a Conversion Disorders Forum? I would really like to have a place to go to to talk about what is going on with me. Thanks.

I would second the Conversion Disorders forum, since the symptoms are neuro symptoms and often very dramatic, such as paralysis.

If so; what about a forum on diabetes. Thanks.

Yes, always taking suggestions for new ideas, however we do have a Diabetes forum (http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=132).

I would like a new forum please called Dyscalculia.
T. J.
I would like to request a forum for Proctalgia Fugax. The cause of this condition is not known, but neurological factors are thought to be important (i.e., it's called "psychosomatic").
Although this excruciatingly painful condition is quite common, I cannot find any other discussion forum on this topic elsewhere on the internet. Because medical options are very limited and unsatisfactory, those of us who are affected have to rely on "home remedies." I think a forum could help us exchange ideas for management of this condition, and access information rapidly about any further medical answers that become available.
Thank you for considering this request.

Add me to the list of those requesting for additional forums on other health issues. I would greatly appreciate it. That foot disorder forum is a good idea. Hope you can add some more in the near future. Another on bone problems will be great. This is a common area of concern and I’m sure many members will be able to relate to this. Thanks in advance.

It should be no problem to add both a Foot Disorders (Podiatry) and a general Orthopedics forum to the many we have listed here. Having myself been plagued with avascular necrosis of the hip in the past year, I can surly relate.

New forums now open...
Orthopedics (http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=378)
Podiatry (http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/showthread.php?p=348832&posted=1#post348832)
We hope they are helpful and useful.

Maybe you could add a forum for medication-induced osteoporosis?? or osteoporosis in general. (I don't know if i spelled that correctly..having headache issues today..)
I also believe a Forum for Osteoporis would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure how to spell it either, but I do know many that suffer from it. It gets worse as days go by.
Kristin, do you suffer from this along with all your other problems? I'm beginning to understand why people say I am grouchy. I can hardly get from one room to the next with so much pain somedays it isn't even worth the try . It has gotten worse, very much so I am bent double when I try to walk.
I'm in a world of hurt tonight. My grandson got married over the week-in and it has given new meaning to the word "Suffer".
Yes Kristin, I do believe it would be of some help . Put this with osteo-artheritus, well, it goes down hill from there. You are young to have all these problems, but chronic pain is no respector of persons. Maybe they will at least consider it.
take care Kristin, Jo

I think that is a good idea. Osteoporosis is in my family and I have osteopenia (the beginning of osteoporosis) from prednisone and maybe from ulcerative colitis complications (which I took Prednisone for).
could there be a subheading Osteopenia in the Osteoporosis forum?
Thanks,
Penny.

Could there be a prematurity and Neurological Disorders forum?
PS I am of "advanced age" and it is looking like I was born premature, but I was told I wasn't. I have a heart problem maybe due to the alleged prematurity also (I am seeing my cardiologist again on Wednesday to again discuss closing the hole).
Thanks,
Penny.
