Hello Everyone!

I received the BEST Christmas Present ever yesterday when I saw the Radiologist who did my Coiling & Stent on November 4, 2008.

I AM CURED!

I got to see all the X -rays of before during and after the Coiling and that was so interesting!

The Aneurysm is gone - and according to my Dr. Dude I can bend over - I can work out and increase my blood pressure - I can Scuba Dive - I can fly on airplanes - I can even play the piano (except I might need lessons :))

Yeah yeah - still have to do 4 Dye Contrast Angiograms over the next year for follow up - but they are a cake walk and just for protocol.

He said I made State history but not World history in the fact that he got to approach the Annie from a certain way that is not usually done which allowed one Stent instead of two so he was quite pleased with himself and my lovely veins that allowed this!

There was no awards or money offered for being such a success - but I am well rewarded anyhow by the CURE!

Let's all hear it for coiling and stenting!!!! What a great procedure!

I did NOT have the choice of Surgery due to the location of the Aneurysm so Thank You Lord for looking out for me and Thank You to my Doctor and Thank You to all my wonderful Nurses for their excellent care and to all the Nurse in the world too!

Thank You to all my new Pals on here too for all your support and helping Me stay calm during the times I needed to stay calm ~ God Bless you All.

Nurses - it's YOU would make it easy for us with the little things you do - hand holding goes a long way - smiling and telling us we will be fine goes a long way - please remember that even if your Patient is grumpy - We consider you our lifelines - and in my case I couldn't have found better Nurses. Just Keep them warm Blankets coming all during our stay!

I hope Santa spoils my Nurses rotten this year! :)

I took a huge Thank You basket into Radiology yesterday to thank them all and they seemed quite shocked but pleased to be thanked that way.

Mind you I may have been sort of bribing them too for when they see me next! Ssssssssssshhhh...... :)

Anyhow since I am doing the Happy Dance here ~ I just thought I would share MY good news with ya'll and hope that each and every one of you get Good News too! :) :) :)

Thank You to Everyone in sharing in my Good Newz!

I couldn't have done it - or at least no where near as calm - without all of you!

What a great site - just to be able to say what is bothering you - no matter how silly

or even desperate - and have people respond with kindness - with advice - with humour

and with love. Sometimes even with stern "Get off your butt and deal with it Girl" wisdom.

As Magpie and I agree - communicating with you all on here - lets our friends and family

have a break from our need to talk about these fears-and prevent them from going nutz!

:) :) :)

I swore when I grew up - that I would NOT become like my Mom's friends who chatted

non stop about their health woes! Well - that certainly flew out the window in my

case - but now I see why they did chat about their health woes - it was for sharing

comfort and not feeling so darn alone. (They also traded recipes and talked about their men.) :)

You were right Mom ~ my turn was coming!!! :)

Anyhow I am so glad I could share some Good News with you and Thank You all for your very kind

comments - it feels Great to be Alive today.

OMG ~ only 16 Shopping Dayze left till Christmas! :)

I already have my present - a Successful Coil!!!

Thanks PB - I am grateful for sure!

Jane & Dani and myself were talking about what is Cured?

I have been told I am cured - but of course have to do 4 follow up angiogram with the dye - my first being February.

They told me this is just protocol - and get on with my life. You bet -no worries there....

Now they tell me today - you have to see the Dr. dude one month after your angiogram - for what I ask?

Ohhhhhhh just to see how you are doing.

So they can't pick up the phone and ask me??? :)

I am trying to plan out my year due to a lot of travel so maybe I can book the darn 4 angiograms in advance sigh ...

I think half of this is just keeping the old $$$ rolling in to the system ...but who am I to argue - they cured me - I would

wear a sandwich board nekid outside his office right now - proclaiming him King of Coiling if he wanted me to!

To not have to live with the idea that my brain could go BOOM any moment of the day - is priceless!

Anyhow - back to Jane and Dani - I am not sure but I think we decided that Clipping is More Cured than Coiling

as there is less follow up.

More cured? Is this like being less pregnant? :p

However - it created the question of - IF you have had ONE Aneurysm in your life - does that mean you will

automatically get another or another ???

Eeeeek -

Us Annie peoples have a weaker system in our vein or artery walls than those lucky NonAnnie people?

I know they have clinical trials or whatever where 2 in one family have aneurysms but what about our question?

Anyone got an answer to that one?

Wow!!!

So this is a family matter.

Newbie - are those sister's helping you with your Mom right now?

They too can be a huge source of information.

Are there clinical studies being done in your Country - sounds like your

family would qualify to be part of them if so.

Hi Michell,

Aha at last - someone like meeeeeeeeeeeee - Coiled AND Stented!!! Yay us...

As far as I have been able to figure out Stenting is relatively new to the relatively new coiling procedure.

I think they started using stents in the brain for coiling around 2005 (don't mind being corrected if anyone else knows more) so we are still the Guinea Piglets of Guinea Pigs :)

My Dr. dude said I would be part of a follow up study ... but that was only mentioned once ...so I will ask more about that when I go for first dye contrast Angiogram follow up on Feb 3/09.

I think the follow up Study is because my stent was a new kind...wow a new kind and they are only 2 years old anyhow?

My Coiling Date was Nov 4/08 - when was yours?

Love to hear anything you know about stents too - I know its a wire mesh noodle for lack of better words and that it scafffolds so to speak - the coils - but as to what it is made of - not sure. It is Not platinum like the coils anyhow.

I think both you and I are really considered "cured" with just protocal follow up but I could be mistaken on that.

When is your next Angiogram - oh yay - something to look forward to :) :) :)

Indeed it does look like it.

Yes my aunty's are helping my mum by talking to her and reassuring her, but there is only so much they can do without being here in person (they live overseas).

I'm not sure about clinical studies but I'll certainly look into them once she is better.

Good luck with your situation!
