Carly'sMa

I just had this long discussion and I'll probably be agitated all night. I like her plan but I'm also a little scared. I hope we are not just latching onto some new (not really new) thing and it will be more time lost trying to get Carly's behaviors under control.
We had this real heart to heart on inclusion. I don't think (actually I never thought) they were really doing it right at school. So, Carly is sometimes over distressed in the regular ed classroom and they are making it sound like its because we insist. Well, if they were doing it right, she could be there sometimes and participate. The behaviorist saw her on a bad day. So, who knows. I will talk with the teacher tomorrow.
Carly has begun to respond to a first step in the plan. She is learning "hands down" as a way to calm down before we proceed (to do something). We are going to use a kitchen timer and a visual (picture) when she has to wait for something (like the school bus).
I have to believe that something will work.
