glad to see you back.

i have a new computer, dumped the 98 and now am running XP. of course this happened when the forum was down and i had flashing graphics i couldn't get rid of. i was crying for you.

finally on the other place dorry and ZS got me all configured and i am running fine.

i also dumped firefox. i hate firefox. now that i no longer am struggling with 98 i can actually use IE.

one big reason for the new computer was that my isp was no longer supporting 98 on most of its lines.

for those of us who remember CP/M fondly, this is a bit of a shock.

Hello Annie.

Thanks for the welcome back. :)

At least Dorry and ZS, er, Mike, were able to get you sorted out.

98 is one of the BEST os's out there (I dislike XP with a passion)

If ya have alot of ram and a fast CPU,you have it made on 98 :)

yeah, i was kind of unhappy at losing 98. mostly because the last thing on a computer that i really understood was DOS 3.3 and 98 at least still sort of worked like that.

but most of the world has moved on. i can't use 3.3 any more, tho once upon a time i actually did use the internet using it. now i just went blank for the text browser, what was that thing called. LINX. ZS oops mike was trying to compile it a year or so ago and could not get it compiled. i loved LINX.

my old computer was built by a friend in 1999 who was taking a junior college computer repair class. she is now a professor of computer science and finishing up a PhD. when she was messing around with it last summer and discovered that the monitor was dying and that the reason my printer didn't work was that the USB ports had died she announced it was time to move on.

problem was also that half the things i wanted to do were not suported. when your ISP stops supporting your operating system it is definitely time to move on.

there is great big bunches of stuff in XP that i am still trying to figure out. i want to get a tablet or digital pen and try out the handwriting recognition. also i keep seeing stuff about the windows command line, and if that is like DOS it will make me very happy. i purely do miss batch files. i once wrote a DOS 3.3 batch file that did backups for them at work, file group by file group, had error traps, and windows. was very proud of that.

so i agree entirely with you about 98. on the other hand, i still think CP/M was an excellent operating system, especially when used on the Osborne. sigh.

Nice to be back, Mike. And to see you, and lots of other familiar names. :)

I actually thought BT had gone bye bye.

I'm glad it's back online and even better, someone of your calibre added to an already hugely impressive admin team. :)

The avatar ... I was trying out a new Photoshop brush I got on DeviantArt (http://browse.deviantart.com/resources/applications/psbrushes/). That was one of my favourites. :)
