It's called:

Hold Onto Your Kids
Why Parents Need To Matter More Than Peers
by
Gordon Neufeld and Gabor Mate

Absolutely love it, in a nut shell it's based on the fact that it's not so much what you DO as a parent, but who you ARE to your child.

It's really reawakening all the instincts I had (and lost). Love it.

Maybe there'll be feedback on Amazon or something. It was another recommendation by my RDI consultant, she has been 100% so far.

Got to say, I'm really having to try and understand the book from the author's perspective, which is that our teens are not supposed to wind up with their peers mattering more than us parents - hard to explain, get the book! Even my ma, who is almost 80, is getting it. I told her it would explain a lot to her about her own upbringing, being raised so often by her older siblings...I mean if my ma is listening to me, it must be a great book for sure, lol.

I told her no matter what she discovers in that book, I'm not moving back home and letting her have a do-over with me, hee hee hee. She and I haven't always been close, I don't think she knew how to be a mom. It's nice to finally be able to share jokes like that with her, and have both of us even think it's funny rather than either of us having hard feelings about it.

Ok, well get the book to either gain back more of your intuitive parenting (it's still there!) or find out stuff about yourself, or both.
