Hi new friends,
My story is long, but I'll get to the facts as to my fears/apprehensions.
Next week I finish my six-week long radiation treatment for breast cancer. I thank God that I didn't have to do chemo. I've had two lumpectomies for DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ); the docs wanted me to go on tamoxifen, since the cells are moderately estrogen receptive. I said no.
OK. The next Monday, following the end of breast radiation, I go in for an epidural lysis procedure to begin removing scar tissue surrounding lumbar nerves. I've had two spine surgeries in four years, plus numerous injections, even radio-frequency ablation which only worsened things.
Has anyone else been through multiple physical traumatizing treatments so quickly? I feel like I'm a ping-pong ball.
Thanks, LG

LG-This is my first day with this forum, but I saw your post and wanted to say I will keep you in my prayers with everything you are having to endure. Do you have family/friends that are there for you? Although I can not say that I know "exactly" what you are going through, I do know what it is like to feel like a ping pong ball. I am having my 18th surgery on wednesday and they arent convinced that it will be as simple as Im hoping. Time will tell. If there is anything I can do for you, let me know. Have a great night.

find lots of folks here who are supportive and have multiple issues.
Scroll down and you'll find a forum for Breast Cancer, and further down one for spinal issues.
After my own BC diagnosis less than a year ago, this month having only a few doc appointments seems like a vacation! I have high hopes that you will appreciate this circumstance soon. That after having appointments almost daily for the first 3 months.
Yes, it slows down to the 'maintenance' point eventually.

Hi Godiva,
Welcome to the emotional support forum although it is unfortunate that you have so many issues to deal with at one time.
I have no personal knowledge of the spinal procedures that you mention. However, here at Braintalk, if you scroll to the bottom of the page where it says Forum Jump, there are basically two indexes. Both are listed alphabetically and the second one will have a forum entitiled Spinal Disorders. It is a very active forum, (or at least was before the big computer crash last summer.) The folks there have lots of experience and information for you.
Do you have a specific reason for rejecting the treatment with tamoxifen? From everything I have read, and heard from friends who have used it, there is significant evidence that it prevents further disease from developing. For myself, that would be a strong indication for it's use. Cheerio.
