Just thought I'd post one more time before my MVD on Monday. As you can imagine, I'm really nervous. I go from not being afraid at all to being almost in a state of panic. I don't know if I was more nervous the first time or this time. The part that scares me the most is the possibility of a stroke or something like that. I know they have to tell you all these things, but it sure does make it scary. I appreciate all the encouraging notes and all the prayers everyone has been offering me. I'm sure I'll be back home to let you know how I am before long. Last time I was in the hospital 6 days due to some complications. Maybe this time will be better. I hope the MVD gets rid of the pain this time. Talk to you all soon. Sheila

Hey Sheila, surgery is surgery, whether you've had it once or 10 times (heaven forbid). You have a right to be nervous. Take something to calm your nerves. No need to suffer emotionally. I wish I had done that, like others had before their MVD's. At least you know the procedures this time around and what to expect. Of course the complications are worrisome, but they are in any procedure. Have faith, and we are all praying for you for a successful and less complicated outcome. You go girl!!!!

Hi Sheila,

I've been wondering how you're doing, sorry to hear the MVD didn't work for you. I have been pretty much a lurker since the forum is back up - I had a big scare a few weeks ago and thought the TN was coming back. I saw my surgeon last week and he feels that I am still healing (MVD February 7, 2006). He also thinks the occipital nerve was damaged (not destroyed) during the surgery which is making my healing a little more different than others.

It's got to be very emotional and frustrating for you right now, but like Ella said, take something for the anxiety and try to stay positive. I'm gald you don't have to wait too long for the surgery. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Kathy

By the time you read this you'll be home! And already feeling better, I hope. Take it easy, your body has been under a lot of strain so give yourself plenty of time to heal. When you feel up to it we will be anxious to hear from you. Nancy

Hi everyone:

Sheila (Rudy's Mom) is having her second MVD this morning at 11:30. As last time, her friend Barb will e-mail me when Sheila is out of surgery. Barb gets home from work late in the afternoon and I will notify this Forum as soon as I hear from Barb.

Prayers for Sheila, please. She said she is nervous but is going to take Valium a couple times before the surgery to help relax her.

HI Everyone:

Just got an e-mail from Sheila's friend Barb and the surgery has been postponed to 5:30 today and it is 5:12 as I write this. The surgery will last till 9:30 or ten according to Barb. So keep the prayers coming! I will post as soon as I know more from Barb. Barb didn't say why it was postponed.

Hi again everyone:

An e-mail now from Sheila"s friend Jean C. saying that she is out of surgery and doing well and the doctor thinks that this time it will work for Sheila. Sure hope so - she has had a lot of suffering this year what with the Gamma Ray, then the MVD, and now the second MVD.

I hope we can all continue our prayers that things will go well and that Sheila will be pain free!

Shirley H.
