I have been on Opana for 2 months now. I was originally on 20mgs. Oxy 3 times daily with Oxy IR 5mgs for breakthrough. I needed a dosage increase so my doc put me on Opana 20 mgs. twice daily with 5 mgs. for breakthrough. He seems to think the opana is stronger than Oxycontin. Although I feel the Opana lasts longer, it is not stronger and I am in just as much pain as before. I hope someone else comes along with their experiences.

Thanks for sharing your experience with Opana Motocrossed!! I've been wondering how well it really works. I'm on Oxycontin now and I didn't want to change if the "new" drug wouldn't be an improvement. Thanks Again!!

Opana is Oxymorphone and it is derrived from Thebaine it is also a metabolite of oxycodone.
To put it another way, it's what oxycodone is broken down into inside the body.
It is Aproximately 6-8 times stronger than morphine and 2 times stronger than oxycodone.

I have been on this for about 2 mo.s now.
I came off 160 mgs daily of oxy to 120 mgs daily of Opana.
Although it is stated as being twice as strong as oxy,
I have not had this benefit. My BT meds have increased
and will be asking the PM doc for a slight increase in the base med.
I can say that it is smoother than oxy, but its proposed 12hr life
has not worked for me. Neither did the oxy.
About 7-8 hrs is as long as it goes. But then again
any of the short acting ones only lasted 45min to an hour.
I guess I process very quickly....
Thanks

in my opinion. I just like it because it is a 24 hr release. I take it once in the AM and once in the PM to be sure there is never any time that is wears off. It is the best. I never experience withdrawal and while I do have BT, I can live with it.
Kadian is expensive when I used to pay for it, fortunately my Insurance pays for it now. Thank you God !!!
Best to you,

Is this drug good for headaches ?
Roz,
I can't speak for others, but the opiates actually give me headaches. My relatively low-dose day-to-day meds don't, but when I get higher doses (such as in the hospital), I usually get a raging headache. Don't know why this is, or if others experience it, though.
Hope you find somehting that works for you, whatever it is!
