Hi,
Had MS for 35 years and my neuro told me that I had RLS and he started me on mirapex. So I'M trying to find someone inthe MS community that has the same problem
and it works for me. My legs really bother me at night so I take it around 9:00 pm. It's a Parkinson's drug; I was told by my neuro it works for some and not for others. It does wonders for me :)
Hope it helps you! Take care.

Just to guide me . How much are you taking and what was the starting dosage? he started me on 0.5 per day
Did you have any side effects when you started and at what dosage did you start?
Also did your neuro tell you that it was caused by Ms?
Mine said that it was not related but on MS sites it says it is.
What were your symptoms?
My legs were stiff and weak during the day and about 30 minutes being in bed I had to get up till 3-4 a.m. This has been going on since April.
Thanks soo much cause your the first person witch I find that has RLS and MS. I went on RLS.ORG but they dont have MS so its hard to compare.

You're testing my memory with all your questions :)
I started at the dosage you're at and now after 2+ years am taking 1mg in the evening. Yes, I was told because it's from the MS at our city's MS Clinic.
At night, when trying to sleep without the drug it keeps me up or keeps waking me. I try shaking my legs to get the feeling out without Mirapex. Sometimes my legs will jump.
No side effects from the drug that I've noticed.
May it work well for you! Take care.

I've had RLS for years but have taken no meds for it. My neuro just rx'd mirapex the other day and I'm waiting for my mail order to get it to me. I'm curious to see if it works too.
My neuro has mixed feelings about it being from MS or hereditary. All the women in my family have it.

Hi again, Rolly,
Several of us who have both MS and RLS posted on your other thread. http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3343 I'm sorry if we weren't very helpful, though. :)
Here's a link to a news article just today that reports how Mirapex has recently been approved for the treatment of RLS, which may give you some more information: FDA Approves MIRAPEX For The Treatment Of Moderate-to-Severe Primary Restless Legs Syndrome

Like the links I posted in the other thread, it states, "RLS is a common, yet often undiagnosed, neurological sensorimotor disorder. Up to 10 percent of U.S. adults are affected by RLS."
Did any of your research help you to decide if your symptoms are definitely from RLS? I recall that was one of your main concerns, that you weren't sure if RLS was the correct diagnosis.
Good luck to you in finding relief! :)
