Hello there all you ex-smokers!! :)

jingle -- I guess your move date is coming up fast. Packing and moving is such a pain, but getting your own place without any negative memories can be very uplifting in the long run. ;) You are in my thoughts and prayers!!

Kathy - Congrats on 3 months!! Doesn't it feel good??? :D You mentioned living in the same house for 24 years. I lived in my home for 17 years and it took me several months to be ready to move. Lots of stuff went to Goodwill or Salvation Army, a lot was junk that I threw away (can't believe I had saved all that crap), and the rest was sold at about 6 rummage sales over 2-3 months. But overall, it was a cathartic experience for me. I'm finally continuing the process by sorting through what's left in my storage unit so I can get out of there and have a little extra cash each month. ;)

Here's a reading that I thought was appropriate --

You are reading from the book Today's Gift

We all fear what we don't know - it's natural. --Leo Buscaglia

If we put a blindfold over our eyes and begin to walk around an open field, we would feel unsure with each step. We might be afraid of falling, afraid of walking over some unseen edge and hurting ourselves.

When any of us face something and we don't know what the outcome will be, we often feel blindfolded. We fear we may get hurt. We fear we can't do it. We have a hard time trusting ourselves. A blind person often finds help or guidance from others, or will gain confidence by walking on - slowly at first, finding trust and sureness with each step.

These same things help us when we are afraid. It is also helpful to remember there is no right or wrong way to explore what faces us - only our own way.

What new trust can I place in myself today?

jingle - When I read this I thought of you facing the move and feeling "unsure" of your future there. It also made me recall how I felt when I moved to this apartment three years ago. I wasn't sure I would ever "fit in" but now I'm feeling more comfortable here. ;) I wish the same for you!

I'm trying to think of an answer to the question above - "What new trust can I place in myself today?" Can't think of an good answer right now... I guess I'll ponder that for awhile! LOL

Hope you all have a peaceful and smoke-less day Wednesday!

teddiebears -- Ah, thank you for that. It means SO much!!

"We fear we can't do it. We have a hard time trusting ourselves" Boy, I'm fighting that right now.

And, of all things, the fact that I quit smoking after being such a heavy, dedicated smoker for so many years :o is giving me some hope right to keep right on going - one step at a time.

Kathy - How's your health? How are you feeling? And how are the grand kids?

Anyone who is thinking about quitting smoking -- please feel free to talk, ask questions, anything. We're ready to listen.
