Hello all
@ mcfox
You should remove your email addy due to spammers and spambots, try using Private Messages (pm) for this. ok

Thanks for the concern, sho-dan, and you do have a valid point that email addresses as a general rule should never be posted in the forums.
I'm 'long in the tooth' as far as the internet goes - that email address is 'spam central' - all the junk ends up there - I use it purely on the odd occasion when I need to for a quick fix of a problem or I know a required email address will end up on a spammers list.
So, no worries. ;)
As usual, you can't out-fox McFox. Welcome back!

Hi James,
If the computer your using does not have any photo imaging software on it
to use, then try this simple web based program to do it
http://www.resize2mail.com/
I hope this helps

There is another website you can use to upload avatars to and resize them called MyImager.com (http://www.myimager.com) and when you go you'll see the 'browse' button to upload something from your harddrive to their image editing area.
http://www.cyber-soup.com/pamster/resize.jpg
Then on the second menu over above the image will be a "Edit" menu and you can see the option to "resize" the image here:
http://www.cyber-soup.com/pamster/resize1.jpg
Just choose the "Resize" option and tell it to make the avatar 80 by 80 which is the dimension limit here on Brain Talk for avatars. I hope this helps! ^_^

Pamster,
I was lurking and came to this thread as a panacea for my immediate resizing problems with the photo editor(s) I currently have. I went to both resize2 & my imager to look-see.
My Imager gave me so many pop ups, and caused me to close 3 windows before I even could see the page. I got out of there, fast.
I did bookmark the resize2 url, tho. It seemed more friendly.
I've yet to use it, tho.

I ignore the ads, but you're right it is worth mentioning. There are some pop ups like every page makes a new one but I just close them as soon as they appear and ignore it. I do that with any pop ups so it doesn't bother me much. Just a couple of clicks and "poof" no ad in my face. LOL! :D

Thank you all!
Having posted the original question I was looking at moneysavingexpert.com (probably only of use in the U.K.) when I came across www.Mypictr , a web based thing that does the job .
thanks again

I used it! I used it! :p
OK already,............sheesh!!

It worked nicely. I did have to resize it down a coupla times to get it where I wanted it,
(and learn how to use the pgm- easy learning curve, tho)
but stepping down was an obvious necessity for the size of the avatar I had.
Went down to 80x60 pixels fine.

Sorry mate, I had to wade through a ton of spam in that email account before I spotted your email.
Here's your pic, fully optimised and properly sized. Just right-click and choose 'Save image as' to save it to the local computer then upload it as your avatar.
