Just reading a great and very readable book on the subject ; it's called
" The brain that changes itself " by Norman Doige subtitled the legend :
" Stories of personal triumph from the frontiers of brain Science "
It's a Penguin published 2007 . Check it out.

Yeah brain plasticity is an amazing phenomenon which is a major factor in our being able learn and adapt to many environments over the eons and allows us to recover from traumatic brain injury or disease.

While this is a great thing, there is a down side too. Brain plasticity is also plays a key role in drug addiction. This page about brain plasticity (http://www.brainhealthandpuzzles.com/brain_plasticity.html) talks about both the good and bad.
