Has anyone here tried the matol diet? High protein, low carbs and sugars, supposed works on putting body into a ketosis state to burn fat reserves?

Just looking for opinions..?

that's basically the atkin's diet. you can eat all the meat and fat you want, but very few carbs. sugar is a carb. it does put you in a state of ketosis.

supposedly, protein and fat tend to make you feel fuller, so you eat less of them.

but, i think a calorie is a calorie is a calorie. eat more than you burn, you gain weight. burn more than you eat, you lose weight.

the best way to lose weight is to eat the right way the rest of your life. i call it a "live-it". anybody can stay on a restricted diet and cut out carbs or cut out fats or whatever the latest fad is. then once you get tired of eating the restricted way, you gain the weight back, plus more.

better to start with small steps. replace simple sugars with complex carbs, like fruit, veggies, whole grains. limit your snacks to 100 calories perhaps twice a day. start moving more!

weight lost at a rate of 1-2 pounds a week will stay off longer and you will be eating a live-it that is healthy the rest of your life.
