There are a couple books I'm seriously thinking of ordering from Amazon. And I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with them and can recommend yay or nay.

The first is called (I think) The Complete Guide to Asperger's Syndrome by Tony Attwood. Actually, I've been thinking about this for a while and the last time I ordered from Amazon, my mom said she was surprised I didn't get it. Most if not all reviews on Amazon were pretty positive.

The second is All Cats Have Asperger Syndrome. It's this one I'm not too sure about, as it sounds more like pictures of cats with captions about Asperger's. It seems more geared towards kids, so I'm not entirely sure. Still, I love cats and have two of my own, and cat pics tend to be cute, so... By reviews I've seen, some seem disappointed by the format.

Has anyone read either of these books? Opinions?

I don't know anything about either one of them, sorry.

Did you ever contact Amazon about not getting your order before? I'm surprised by it too!

I've been to a couple of conferences where he has been a speaker and I think you'll get a lot out of his book.

He is very "user-friendly" (to quote computer geek speak) and easy to understand. At the same time, as a parent of an Aspie and his twin brother with more obvious autism, I got a lot out of Tony's presentation and discussion of how to work WITH folks in the spectrum and not to try to change them to fit what some parents would call "normal". Having a husband (and a big set of in-laws) with spectrum tendencies (and seeing some of them in myself), it was a relief to see that Tony related to this so easily and talked about the day-to-day issues without judging the individuals involved.

I attended an autism conference over the summer where Tony Attwood spoke for a whole day. I couldn't imagine what he could say in about 7 hours, but he was outstanding!! I loved his presentation and his personality. I highly recommend anything and everything he's written, including the guide. I have it, along with many other of his books and others to which he's contributed. I really think the guide will "speak" to you and help you understand AS. :)

I don't have All Cats Have Asperger Syndrome, but I have looked at it, and yes, it is a cute book for kids, written in simple language for kids with AS and their siblings and friends. It'd be a great gift for any kids in your life (nieces and nephews, especially).

My mom was surprised that, with what I ordered, I did not order the Tony Attwood book. I got what I *did* order.
