I just took Niacin again after a few days seeing as my conditon seemed to approve but for some reason I am expricing bad effects to the extent I feel like I am burning even some 4 hours after taking it.

My skin is all red like its sunburnt as well so Im not sure what to think ..

Tomorrow hopefully I go and get this checked out because i have no idea between the 3 i.e. the Eugenol , my neuropathy and the niacin what its doing .

Ive heard of hot flushes but this has gone on way too long , i mean its pretty cold here and usually im sensitive to it but i feel like im in the tropics - I even have shorts on .

Any suggetions would be wlecomed.

thanks

Niacin causes a flush or an itchy feeling. Are you drinking plenty of water? to flush it out of your system. If you need to take niacin, there is a no-flush type of niacin. Most drugstores have it.

I had the same side effects with the recommended dosage. :o I also had a rapid heart beat. Worst reaction I've ever had to a medication. I will never touch it again!

Hope you can find something else that will work for you.

I had the same thing happen a few years ago.
Its commonly referred to as Niacin "flush".
I now take Niacin as a daily suppliment to help with cholesterol control
but in a very small no-flush dose.
I don't know why you were taking it in the first place, or what dosage you took, so its hard to determine.
Drink lots of water, the symptoms should subside in 24 hrs, max- and look for the no-flush type next time.

I haven't looked into it for a long time. But this was the non-flush and safer form (if I remember correctly from reading done in about 2000). Also, I remember that it was important to avoid timed-release niacin.

Also, do I remember mrsdoubtfyre saying something about niacin and aspirin? I may be entirely off base on that.
