hi all, i was diagnosed with narcolepsy yesterday and need some advice. well...lemme list my symptoms and see what you all think...cause this doctor was really young.
i've been falling asleep while driving for about 6 years now (i've been driving for 6 years). i fall asleep at work all the time, but only for a few seconds at a time. whenever i fall asleep in the car i have these mini-dreams that are very real, and sometimes extremely scary. i can keep myself awake if i slap myself...but it is literally uncontrolable, scare the **** out of my girlfriend all the time. other than totaling my first car in a field, i've been very lucky not to hit anyone over the years.
once i finally get to sleep at night, i wake up about once every 2 hours thinking i have to go do something; whether it be clean up imaginary cat puke, do imaginary dishes...or getting ready for work at 3:30 AM. sometimes i cant feel my right or left arm for about 20 minutes...i dont know if thats even related..might be that i just sleep on it wrong but anyway. occassionally i'll sit up in bed; dont know if im still sleeping or actually awake; but i'll see the bed covers as something they're not, or the curtains the same way. i piss my gf off cause i kick off the covers all the time, or roll up in them.
if anyone has any advice or comments, i'd really appreciate any ideas you might have. Thanks.
