I don't but I fear my grand daughter has. She does like you do, pick at everything even her fingernails and toenails. It seems so compulsive for her. She has had a staph infection & I fear she wil have another. Something to think about. I told her to put a rubber band on her wrist and Snap it everytime she started to pick.

She is too young to try that but maybe you're not. What do you say, will you try that & report back? I wish you luck with it. It will be hard to stop. I remember I used to bite my nails and twirl my hair. I stopped but it was so long ago I don't remember what stopped it.

Good luck!

Joy.
I would need more like a jab in the eye with a sharp stick to get me to stop as the picking is painful in itself.
A sting from a rubber band would not be a deterant to me Im afraid.
I go see my mental health worker tomorrow and maybe she will have a new med she can try me on.
I already tried zanax and that did not work.
I have had MRSA 2 x s first time was real bad 2nd time wasnt as bad.
Anytime you have a open wound you are prime for bacteria to enter.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Have you ever had an injury to the front of your head? I have the same issue with obsessive skin picking and I am trying to see if it might be linked to the blow I took to the front of my head as a child.
I have read that such injuries could lead to ADHD and I am curious if it might lead to OCD as well.

hi there and welcome. I can't help you with an answer tho'. I hope you look around the forums and find some you like and will jump right on in and join up with us.

I hate not knowing the answers, I have some that the origins are not known myself. Aggrevating and time consuming to try and sort it all out.
