Please don't shoot me for asking this. I asked my husband this question and the answer was "Are you out of your mind?" but I said "it's not that stupid a question, if a person is in great pain?" so here's the question......
If my husband has PN only in certain toes (like two toes on the left foot and two toes on the right foot). and the pain is right between those toes. No other place.. Just those areas. Isn't it possible to go in and eliminate the offending nerves to those toes? Or amputate the toes and the nerves and leave the other part of the foot alone?
Sounds dumb, I know , but my mind thought of it so why can't it happen??
thanks for answering my dumb question.

He was, many years ago. We were in Dr. Pasick's office in Coney Island Hospital podiatry department. I knew that Alan's sister has Morton's Neuroma so I told the doctor. We had this thing. Every week during Alan's visit, the doctor would give me a new word to learn and give me an explanation. I learned a lot from him.
So I said "how do you know that Alan doesn't have a neuroma?" And he showed me his foot and explained this and that.
bottom line. No neuroma.
be well

P.S. I guess no one wants to answer my dumb question, hah???
And what happened to the picture I posted of me and the 100 year old lady. People actually responded.
jeez
I just logged on and saw this. I don't see why this could not be done Melody. I have had the exact thing done on my back by my Pain Management doctor several times. And I might add, called various things, lol.. One, Radiofrequency abulation or some such thing and others and they always, the nerves, come back eventually. Ask around if no one else responds. It's so late I'm certain I'm not making any sense this late at night. If it can't be done, it will be because of the location probably. A good foot doctor or pain doctor can tell you.

thank you Joy. When we go to the peripheral neuropathy department on November 20, I'll ask this question.
Hope the doc doesn't look at me like I have two heads.
will update.
bye for now.

Do you mean it disappeared? I didn't check back to see.
I saw the picture, and thought: you, Melody, looked just like you sound in your postings - spirited, pleasant, intelligent, bright eyed! Is the old lady a relative?
Allen sure has some biceps. Looks like his working out is paying off and good for him for losing so much weight. Not many can do that.

Shirley;
I must have been having a senior moment. I thought I posted the picture under a separate thread.
It's still there under the thread about the DRX machine.
And no, the 100 year old lady isn't a relative of mine. She's my brother in law's aunt. He will turn 70 on December 30 and she will turn 101.
Isn't that absolutely amazing???
I think she looks smashing for 100!!!

Melody, I wouldn't count on NOT getting that look, especially from a neurologist! Sorry but my neurologist likes to keep me close to his pocketbook, err sorry, really likes yeap, pocketbook. And please, people don't tell me to change, I'd like too, but here in this small town, they got it all wrapped up and I can't see driving 100 mile one way to see another, especially when I don't have any qualms myself about taking pain meds which handles my pn problems about as well as anything else I've found.
