Here's my story, and may help some of you if you suffer the same.

When I was about 30 years old I was very physically fit, worked a bizzilion hours a week, drank a pot of coffee daily...my only vice at that time.
I was overloaded as usual, trying to get ready for my sons Pathfinder/Scout camporee.
I was to drive 15 kids in our motorhome up to the mountains, then home after 3 days of fun.

I had stayed up for 2 days drinking coffee, packing, cooking, baking. Finally ready, kids loaded up along with a few chaparoans to help me.
On the way the brakes on my motorhome failed:eek:
Thank God I was able to get them fixed without having an accident.
But I was "wigged out" by the time we arrived at the camp grounds.
That night when finally able to get some rest my heart began skipping beats. This scared me and I began having them all the more because of fright.
The next day my heart began flip flopping every 3 or 4 beats.
They were so bad I couldn't even walk.
A camp doctor listened to my heart...told me I should get to an ER soon.
But I didn't want to spoil the camping trip so I spent the next day in bed with my heart skipping away. I think the higher altitude had a part in this too.
I had someone drive my motorhome back into town.
On the way home my heart began to get worse, probably anticipating what could be wrong.

Finally ended up in the ER, they spent hours doing test, sent me home with Valium and referal to heart doc.
Heart docs put me on Beta Blockers and valium...found nothing more than perhaps Mitral Valve prolapse, congenital heart murmer and definatly benign PVC's...(premature ventricular contractions)....probably stress, caffeene....never checking for vitamin or minerals deficiency.
I had no other symptoms and Crohns was years away from becoming part of me. But who knows how much I was malabsorbing then?!?!
I never experienced fatigue, pain or any health issues except infertility and stress from coming from disfunctional family and sexual abuse as a child.

With orders to stop drinking caffeene and a healthy scare I was in complete compliance. The PVC's scared the bugars out of me!
The Beta Blockers worked wonders and the PVC's were under a more "managable" control. They didn't go away....just not as strong.

They then put me on Inderal LA 80 mg several times a day. This is time realseased Beta Blocker.
Then with insurance changes they switched me to cheeper Verapamil.
My PVC's began to get worse but I had to just live with them.
Once I was mistakenly given Caffenated coffee and I ended up in the ER with PVC's bi-jimany....every 3rd beat was a PVC. These were not only bothersome, they down right terrified me. All the telling me they wouldn't kill me....I'd be OK...did little to calm my fears. I spent many frightful times in the ER...and they'd release me after several hours despite my being terribly afraid.
Sadly this went on for over 10 years, but what recourse did I have?
I was destined to just "live" with them, take the beta blockers...till one night...I tuned into a late night talk show...featuring a Mayo Clinic Cardiologist...what she had to say changed my life.

She said her studies had found that often PVC's and heart palps are caused by a vitamin and mineral deficiencies....Magnesium, Potasium, Calcium.

The next day I started taking them. Within 2 days the PVC's stopped 100%!
Wow...the beta blockers I'd taken, Verapamil and Enderal didn't do this!
And after a few weeks of taking the suppliments I weaned myself off the Verapamil...I dont advise doing this to anyone...but I am stubborn.

This was over 20 years ago. As long as I take the supplements, no more PVC's....nada one! ...But if I go a few days without them, I'll get an occasional PVC, but nothing near what I felt back then.
I can even drink a healthy dose of caffeene too without any problems.

So perhaps there's more to vitamins and suppliments than doctors are willing to tell....after all can you imagine how much money it cost for all those doctor visits, heart testings, drugs, appointments! When instead my problems could have been simply fixed with a few cents worth of minerals!
Blessings, Cheryl

Heart palpitations, rapid heartbeat, and eventually signs of impending heart failure developed with my long untreated B12 deficiency.

Fortunately, that was one of the first things to resolve when I began treatment.
