maybe you can help me. my daughter is 15 and was taken off prozac by her doctor he just had me stop her cold turkey. within 4 days she was in the emergency room with what looked like seizures I was told it was serotonin withdrawl and to put her back on prozac. since then she can not look at flashing lights without a spasm an e.e.g. was done and during the strobe light test she spasmed but nothing showed up to indicate seizures. I was told it is all emotional but I think something else is wrong. have you ever seen this in any teens that you have worked with?

Dear Mindy:

Just a suggestion. Did you look up "Prozac withdrawal symptoms" on the Internet? If not have a look. Just type in Prozac withdrawal symptoms on your computer's search engine. I hope you will find some information that is helpful.

Hi :]
I'm new here!

I'm Rachael, and I'm 13. I have had decompression surgery for my diagnosed ChiariMalformation. I also have other things, but it's quite a lengthy list if ya know what I mean! :] :]

I'd love to talk to anyone who's going through a hard time with illnesses and such. I SOO understand what it's like about not feeling "normal", even though you really are.

hi Rachael

to be honest ive never even heard of what you just said, what is it? can you explain it to me?

rayinmay:]

Hi Jack! :]

It's totally fine. Not very many people have heard of it, even though it's not as "rare" as it seems to be. :]

Chiari Malformation is where the back of your head is too tight, and there's pressure built up in your head. The increasing pressure pushes on a lot of important things in there, which causes tons and TONS of symptoms. The only way to improve (not cure) Chiari, is to have decompression surgery, which removes part of the skull in the back of your head. It relieves the pressure, and improves your symptoms. :]

Did I explain it okay?? :]

It can be kinda confusin'. :]

rayinmay:]

Yeah, it's not a fun-ride :P

I'm glad I explained it okay, because it can be very confusing! It's real complex 'n stuff. :]]

Actually, I've already had the surgery. I had it in...oh, lemme think...October. Yeah, october. :] It was pretty rough, but, it's soooo paid off! I'm SO much better! it helped lots. :D it was awesome!

I'm pretty thankful to God. :]

nuff of me! :] :]

Soo..how've you been feeling!?

Rachael :]

My name is Jarrod and while not really a teen, I am only 21. I always enjoy talking to new people. Feel free to PM me. Just a rundown real fast. I have a clinical depression diagnosis, though I think I might actually be a tad bipolar. I also have anxiety though I am no longer medicated for it and can mostly control it on my own. I also deal with a lot of issues related to bad learned behaviors, possibly caused by my alcoholic father (something I learned here on the emotional support forum) that I and starting to explore and attempting to fix.

ANYWHO...... If anyone wants to talk feel free to PM me, or if you have aim and whatnot, my S/N is "unsichtbarerjung".

wow, where are all the teens? Come on now!

I'm 19 for another 6 months or so. ;) I have a lot of things wrong with me, but thankfully they all tend to be on the "probably not dangerous, just life-stifling" end of chronic illness. Fibromyaglia, ME, SP seizures, eczema, malabsorption problems, etc.

Nice to meet you. Whoever's around, that is. :D

I'm 14 and I have Complex Regional Pain Syndrome in my left leg, right arm and possibly left arm also.

It's nice to meet some other teenagers as there doesn't seem to be that many on any forums. If any of you need anything, please feel free to send me a PM as I know how hard it is dealing with any illness at such a "young" age!

Alison.

Hay all... I'm Charlie (F) and I will be 19 in November (YES). From England (dam)
I have a variety of medical conditions;
Hydrocephalus (not sure what type)
Scoliosis (corrected with surgery)
Chiari malformation (i've had the decompression)
A cyst on my brain stem
Facial Paralysis (intermitant, double vision)
Well I think that is everything.
I would love to talk to anyone who has any of these conditions as I have not had much contact with anyone with any of them.
Charlie
