Sorry to say it does look suspicious to me, but it's hard to tell just from the video. Can you arouse her? Can you stop the movement? Can you distract her? If it is involuntary and you can't stop it or distract her, then I would vote seizure.

Let us know what the neuro says. I hope you get an answer soon.

Yes it looks suspicious to me, especially since you say she has been doing it for 30 minutes and is difficult to rise. But can't say I've seen anything like this with Laura.

At first, when watching it, I did think she maybe was constipated and trying to poop but the longer it goes on and repeats, I think not. I would turn her over and see what happens. Maybe she is in a deep sleep and having some sort of nightmare, although it looks too rhythmical for that. IMO I'd err on the side of caution and get/use some intervention.

Kate,
mum to Laura age nearly 7 w/Dravet syndrome.

From what I saw it does look like a seizure. Ava has some that look like those.

We are instructed to call 911 if after five minutes after diastat the sz does not stop. Sometimes it is hard to make this choice with these types of subtle seizures.

That definitely sounds like seizure, then. I am glad you went with your gut and used diastat. I hope the neuro has some suggestions.

I hate seizures.

I'm a little late to the party, but I'm glad you went ahead with Diastat. If you're not sure and it's been going that long, go ahead with Diastat. Better safe than sorry.

It sort of reminded me of Tom's seizures, and his "fake" seizures. Lately, his seizures have been at night, and he sleeps on his stomach. In general, his right fist gets clenching, so that's what I check first ("where's the hand and what is it doing?"). However, we've had a few times recently, where he's had similar movement (like your video), but it's early evening and his fist is not clenching. In those cases, it's been a very full bladder, but he's been deep asleep. We've been able to wake him (groggy) and he'll say he needs to go.

(((Hugs))) Don't be afraid to use Diastat when in doubt.

I was only able to see like a milisecond of the videoclip, so I am not even sure what I am looking for. Hoping that the neuro will give you some good advise on what he/she thinks it is/isn't. Hoping it is linked to her being sick with pneumonia too. I know when Megs get sick, she tends to have more seizures than normal. If it was to happen again before the neuro gets back to you, if it were me I would be taking her to the ER to make sure. Good luck!

It gives me that sick "oh no" feeling in my stomach that any seizure Mom knows......Sorry........hope the neuro is able to help by looking at it. And good for you for having for the head about you to video tape it. That is invaluable!

For some reason the video didn't work on my computer--one of my settings must be wacky or something. Glad the diastat--or time, whichever it was--changed things. Hope the neuro has some good infor for you tomorrow and that this was related to her being ill anyway and is not a new pattern for her.

Hugs.
