Just wanted to say that our daughter had an amazingly successful second surgery with a surgeon who does excision. Name of excisionists are easy to find on the endometriosis yahoo group, or by googling. I don't know if doctor names are allowed here on Brain Talk, so I am refraining.
The excision surgeon also had a GI surgeon who worked alongside him, in our daughter's case. They were able to do 4 incisions, and that meant they were better able to manipulate and could look at both sides of organs. They also found a problem with her appendix, which had looked fine to the previous surgeon, who did 2 excisions and used cautery.
There is a lot of hope if people want to research excision as the way to go.
For those with other health problems (our daughter has type 1 diabetes, hypothryoid, food allergies, migraines, other vague autoimmune stuff, and, yes, was treated for Lyme) hormones can pose a challenge. The usual surgery methods did not help her at all. But after excision, her pain is 98% gone, I would say.
