I have been a member of these boards since shortly after they were started. I came in early 1994. I was here when there were VERY few forums or posters. Every day, the numbers increased.
The information and people here have, in my opinion, helped save my son's life when he had to have brain surgery. They helped when I needed cataract surgery. They helped when I had my strokes and maintained my sanity when they were the only outside communication I had. This was my daily sustinence for well over 10 years. My activity here has been somewhat less over the last few years since I took on another project, but I have true friends here and it is still home.
In that time, we have lost valueable information or old data a couple of times. It has been really sad because then you can't go back to the things you posted or that were so valueable to you. However, over time, as more people found these boards, the information cache again built. New people came in seeking, finding, donating their time and energy, and promoting.
When people sink so much of themselves and their lives into something, they always feel hurt when it breaks. Especially those of us who use this as a life-line. But, only one person can not meet the needs of all the thousands that use this wonderful resource.
I have been anxious for BT to appear again. I have been fortunate to be part of forums that have not seen some of the contentiousness that people seem to be reporting...the forums I have been involved with have been just what BT was meant to be...informative, supportive. I wanted BT back up not only for the stability and it's being "home" for me, but because I was diagnosed with a new problem that only this type of forum could assist me with.
I knew you would put it together at some point. I also know what your work schedule is like and why you couldn't do it sooner. I guess more frequent updates on the "State of Affairs" would have helped. However, you DID bring it back. You didn't have to. It was hard. It is time consuming. But, you DID. This is a good thing. Maybe this fresh start will be what the old forums needed (according to some of the concerns I saw raised). Not too often you get to be a Phoenix. Now, I will go find some forums to post on and renew some friendships.
Thank you.
