Katrina,
I had lasik done about 1 1/2 years ago. My eyes were bad. I see very great now. It was a very simple, painless procedure. The place I went to guaranteed 20/20 vision and they kept testing my eyes. Six months later I wasn't at 20/20 so they did a simple procedure again, not the same one though.
I would do it all over again to see without glasses or have to mess with contacts again.
I can see why anyone would be happy to not have to wear glasses. I myself finally convinced a new eye doctor to let me try contacts again after not having anyone let me try them again for years. I wear one for close up reading and the other is the distance.
Now about lasik, some friends were discussing this the other day. One used to work for a eye doctor. In private she said that this doctor made the comment that he would not do lasik unless he really needed the money. That most people that had the surgery would need what was shaved off later on in life. She also said that later on this same doctor finally started doing lasik himself. We mused that he must have really needed the money.
I don't guess this means much but I sure am picky with my own eyes and if my doctor had insisted that I could NOT wear contacts, after asking why, if it had been a good reason, I would have given up on it. Fortunate for me, I do well with them and the doctor has remarked several times that he was surprised at how well I do see with them.
Good luck to any with eye problems.
