Thank you for nay help!

I have a client who has had breast cancer and was treated several years ago She is since, cancer free and has frequent check ups/blood tests, etc.

This poor dear worries continuously about the cancer returning, to the point of nearly paralyzing her ability to enjoy life. She has severe anxiety attacks. In the course of interview, her answers to my questions indicated to me the possibility that she was experiencing menopause, to an extreme extent.

She saw her physician the following week and underwent a blood test which revealed, in fact, she is in the midst of major menopause. Unfortunately, as many of you already know, she cannot undergo hormone replacement therapy. As a matter of fact she takes a horemone blocker.

I believe she is on way too much psycho-pharmo medication and it is clearly not helping. Currently her Physician has her on: Zoloft 200mg AM,
Buspar 7 mgs x2 daily, Terazadone 50 to 100 mgs PM, Atavan .5 as needed when severely nervous, plus the estrogen blocker.

She will be seeing a psychiatrist next week for a med check, I think, I hope. The last time she saw this same psychiatrist she was told nothing more could be done for her, by the psychiatrist and there was no need for her to come back, her personal physician could take it from there. I hope she misunderstood. That is easy enough to do when you are so traumatized and under major stress.

My question, Ahhh, finally, what, WHAT, if any, herbs and or foods, would be most beneficial for her to assist with her anxiety attacks and major depression that would not interfere with her current medication and would not harm her in terms of her need to be exempt from estrogen?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

If I were her I'd talk to my Pharmacist and ask him what herbs would be best, as some are dangerous to take with certain medications. Not all mix well with meds.

Then I'd talk with the hospital dietician as far as foods go. Bless her heart, she's really having a terrible time of it, isn't she!!! It sounds like her 'shrink' doesn't have quite the amount of compassion that he ought to have! She needs more help than she's getting!

I wish I could help more, but I can't. These herbs can be tricky when taken with other meds. God bless & take care. Hugs, Lee

Dear Lee,
Thank you so very much for your reply. As I am in the medical/psychology field, I am well aware that some herbal remedies are not compatible with rx medications.

One of the reasons I wrote here was in hopes that someone here may be using ancillary herbal assistance to help them get through this period in their lives post cancer treatment and w/in menopause.

I am amazed at the number of folks that looked at this post w/out reply. I guess it is because they knew not what to say. I just hoped with so much attention focused on breast cancer at this time, somebody out there might have some suggestion as to where to start.

I do have a basic knowledge. I will look into the cancer sites.

Again, Lee, thank you for your reply and Blessings. Prayer is the greatest of all "pills", "herbs" or remediies for whatever ails a body.

Blessings to you my Dear.

Hi,

Sorry so late getting here.

May I suggest Evening Primrose Oil? Barlean's is a good brand. I take their flaxseed oil daily and am healed from metastatic breast cancer w/o chemo treatments.
