View Full Version : Lost another one

Well we lost another friend, another one of "the crowd". To oxycontin. Don't know if it was deliberate or not. Family somehow managed to get an immediate cremation done and funeral everything in the matter of just a couple days and no one will say if it was overdose or deliberate.
You think, at my age, that so many of us grew up and out of those kind of behaviors. What were they thinking. Or some, like me got help to get out. Then there are those that never grew up. They stayed in that teen party mind set.
I remember this one, he owned his own business but never really worked hard enough to make it "real". Just did enough to get by. Don't know if there was an injury or if it was an addiction "for fun".
He is gone. I know of others from that crowd that will probably go too. It is the nature of the beast.

This is sad Christina. Be grateful you have more sense than the average person. Please don't dwell on this news too much. Cherish your own family & pets & give yourself a pat on the back for overcoming your own addictions & getting on with your life.

Thank you Pati. I don't dwell, too much. I mostly feel grateful that I got out when I did. Sad for those who haven't but will one way or another.

Sorry, I too have lost friends to addiction, and good ones, some to suicide, some to OD, either way it hurts.:(

((((((( Christina )))))))
hugs to you and prayers to your friend's soul
Matuboo,
either way, it hurts... so true...
there is lots of alcohol and medication addiction in both my families, combined with depression on my mother's side and bipolar disorder on my dad's side... some of them are gone to heaven now, some are still alive... it hurts too to see them destroy their own lives on a daily basis... i can only pray every day for them right now, hoping they will eventually accept to connect with one of the many helping hands around them... as i now live at 500 kilometers away, prayer and distant reiki is the only support i can offer
take care

Jeez Christina, I'm sorry to hear of this. It seems like everyday, I read in the paper, or hear from someone, that someone else has succumbed to this disease. It's so tragic.
Like you said, I'm just so grateful that I got "out" when I did. I KNOW for a fact that I'd be dead right now if I hadn't gotten sober when I did. I was killing myself.
Hope things are going well for you ~ and everyone. God bless. hugs, Lee

Hi Leeaelle, it is good to hear from you. Thanks, you are right, it does seem that the losses are coming faster. I guess as we get older the ole body just can't take any more and a lot of times neither can the mind.
It is tragic. Especially for those who have family that they watch following the same deadly path. We know there are only a couple of outcomes.
