I get worried a full week before my appointment. I suffer from fatigue and have these episodes of severe lethargy. I actually become very anxious a full week worrying that I may actually be too sick to make it to the appointment. Of course they always set up a test while you are there and that starts my worry all over again. :p

Ever feel too sick to go to the Doc?

I sure have Anya!

In fact, I put off some blood tests last week because it meant I had to sit in a line-up for 30 min, then have several tests that might take more then an hour to undergo. I just couldn't face that, especially since I already had an ultrasound, barium, and other medical appointments scheduled during the same week. :(

Sometimes being sick is much worse then a full-time job.

All the time.

My primary doctor's office has called my pharmacy for scripts for antibiotics, Compazine suppositories for nausea and cough suppressant (Benzonatate 200 mg capsules - excellent) when I was too sick to go to the office -- sometimes I had to schedule a follow-up appointment.

Try not to worry. If you do miss the appointment, the office will reschedule you -- or, if it's an emergency or you can't wait, tell the office you need to speak with the doctor about rescheduling the appointment.

Best of luck

It stinks to feel the build-up of an appointment like that. It almost makes you sick. I've been there before myself.
Treating my anxiety has helped me a lot, but we all have times where we just can't get anything done.
I agree with Annie, most PCPs will phone in scripts if you can't make it, and it doesn't hurt to ask. Your doc will comply especially if he/she knows that you know your body and what you need.
You will eventually have to be seen in person, and specialist appointments are particularly hard to reschedule. If you feel like it's your anxiety that's holding you back, you can talk to your PCP about treatment options. There are also meds out that are approved for the treatment of fatigue in MS patients.
Hope this helps. Hang in there, Anya.

Sometimes being sick is much worse then a full-time job.

That is so true! People ask me if I am free for something and I have to check my calendar because often I have some kind of medical appt or therapy!

Anya, I always start feeling bad a couple days before my neurologist appt. and when I am there my BP is about 130-140/75. Normal is 100/60!

It never happens any other time unless I am having a particularly unpleasant test.

This thread is great. We can all post here and show (A) how sick we are AND (B) how stoical we are.:D

Seriously, though, there is no way I could have got to a doctor every time I had an attack of kidney stone pain. For several years I had one or two of these attacks every month.

A couple of UTIs were so bad I couldn't get to a doctor too. "Broad-spectrum antibiotics" were prescribed over the phone until I could get in for a urine culture.

Yup I was right..he ordered more tests! :p

I am sure he thinks I am crazy since I kind of insisted the test be done in the afternoon.

I'll bet he didn't think you were crazy. I often make requests like that, and nobody has locked me up yet.

I still haven't had my blood tests that I was supposed to get done last week. :p They already figured out two more things are wrong with me from the other tests I had, so I'm procrastinating finding out the rest.
