Here is some of Adam's art work. He is 11 yrs old. He has been drawing since I can remember.:)

The first one is his Horn of Plenty from last yr (2005)

Normally Adam WONT draw things like this. He normally ONLY draws swords, Star Wars, Fighting, Guns and stuff like that. I'm still trying to have him tested for Aspergers/Autism. He is VERY advanced in drawing. I'm trying to get him to draw something that I can make into a Christmas card for us but havent gotten there yet. I also have tried to get him to enter Art/drawing contests.

Can you see the two I have posted on before tho? The two with the Horns of Plenty? I noticed this morning the link to the photo album on the bottom goes to the sign in page.

Im new to the Photo bucket.. These are the other two I had scanned that he drew a year or two ago that were on the album that were on the link. These are more like the ones he likes to draw...

I did tell him yesterday that the library is having a bookmarker contest. We'll see if he will do it or not.

Indeed! Let him choose his themes, in no way you could influence the source of his inspiration. Keep on doing what you are doing show admiration, praise a lot and hope that he would be interested in drawing what you are interested on. Perhaps drawing angels for Xmas? There are angels with swords...St. Michael, St. Gabriel??? and then ask him for his angels to put down the swords just for Xmas....

In the past while I was in the art arena I saw many young men with amazing drawing skills and bizarre behaviours. Thirty five years ago we had never heard of autism or aspergers, we accepted them as odd/eccentrics.

Gina Marie, your son is VERY talented. His drawings have a great linear appeal to me. Great idea about the Library competition. What type of implement does he use for these drawings? Is he using textas or pen and ink? Has he ever tried charcoal or pastels or does he reallly like the sharp linear quality better? I reckon he's got a lot of talent. :) He'd probably also enjoy poster patterns... where you set the page into segments and repeat the pattern in different areas. They always look great with a linear design. Does he like the shape of sailing boats? Sailing boats with their perpendicular lines can really complement the horizonal lines of the ocean... anyway, just got me thinking. I'm a bit of an artiste myself but am a lazy one lately. lol

Mostly he just uses regular pencils or color pencils. Sometimes ballpoint pens. When we homeschooled about 4 yrs ago I had him in an art class and he kinda like it tho he likes to just draw what HE likes and not boxes and things people tell him to draw. The instructor told them about lightboxes and he liked it so I went out and spent $50.00 to get him one and he hardly touches it.. :rolleyes: . Now his 14 yr old brother uses it more for his map traces for history. lol

I've asked him if he would redraw that horn of plenty he drew last night again for me with color pencils on a plain paper so I can put in on cards. THO he seems to be the type that only likes to draw something once. Its hard to get him to draw something twice, like maybe they cant get it again or it wont be the same.. I dont know. He wont tell me.

I have bought him plenty of art books.. He likes them to practice like drawing the face and stuff tho we both dont like seeing the naked bodies. :eek: :rolleyes:

Thanks for all the neat comments. I know he will love them. He also does like to draw comic strips. I'll have to see if I can find one he did for school if he still has it around here.

Gina Marie, have you heard of Stephen Wiltshire? When he was a young boy, Oliver Sacks wrote about him in one of his books "Anthropologist on Mars". Truly inspirational.
