Hi,

Someone used the term 'trigger finger'. I know what it means. I think it's something unto itself. Can it sometimes be related to M.S.?

No. But someone might "think" they ahve trigger finger, mistakenly, and it might actually be an MS symptom, and not trigger finger.

Hi,

I am definitely confused. What looks like trigger finger can actually be something else?

Here's some information about it:

It's related to overuse or strain injury--not MS related.

In my original post, what I meant was that someone may have a problem with their finger and self-diagnose it as "trigger finger" based upon readings of internet or advice columns in newspapers. However, they might be completely wrong and it might be that there is a weakness in the fingers due to MS. But, since the person selfdiagnosed herself as having trigger finger (mistakenly), she might never go to the doctor for evaluation and might never have a neurological workup, and thus, would never be diagnosed as having MS.

It would be like if someone fainted and they concluded that they were tired and thirsty. Then, they wouldnot go to the doctor to find out that they fainted. They, therefore would never find out that they have cardiac problems, and thus they might have a cardiac arrest in the future since they did not go to the doctor about fainting, but rather, wrongly self diagnosed.

The only reason I mentioned "trigger finger" is because I had problems with my fingers for several years before my first official MS attack. I "wrongly" self diagnosed it as "trigger finger" based upon a newspaper doctors column. So, I never went to the doctor to ask about it.

The reason that I am being a pest about this is that I have trigger fingers; more than one finger. I never really thought much of it. It's just annoying.

Thanks,
