View Full Version : No Check-in On Gustav?????????
either my eyes are worse than i think or it is past page 3. it appears i have not been on since 8/11, and i came on specifically tonight to see if people ok.
from the news, New O looks empty and they say FEMA better prepared than for Katrina....but i remember the days when everyone checked in for a hurricane.
????????????????
people have changed usernames or left, but i rememer a woman there who had husband working for cable co who was not being let go....and lots of people worried about no ac, etc. we all tried to help her by email addresses, phone numbers, etc. no, i am not hallucinating, just surprised to not see anything. New2Me? New2Him? ????????
anyway, i wish everyone safety and shelter.

I'm sure that people in the path of the hurricane will appreciate your good wishes. New2Him2 appears to be out of the path at present, if her Profile information is up to date.
I'm adding my wishes for shelter and safety for everybody here too.
Our new friends that found there way to our area are back and we're catching up big time. She said it took her 12 hours to go 200 miles!!
Oh my she does not have anything here but a radio to listen too. I kinda am glad cause it's getting iffy in St. Bernard's Parish again. She has had nothing but trouble and not even gotten things settled completely for Katrina.
At least this time she can get back in because she went back to her old job and has a commision. She is also a retired Army person and knows a lot of stuff. Drat she said, she didn't get to bring her gun. It might be good though cause she might have had some road rage on that trip here.
The rest of her family should be here by now. Her son met a school teacher from her home she made here and she's going to be a grandmother. So that's one good thing out of Katrina in her family. Sorry I'm just rattling but want to remember some good things during all this.
And we're all so thankful there are some good things to recall, like friendship to begin right after safety.

My wishes go out for the safety of all in the path of Gustav!
I was happy to note that more people chose to evacuate before this storm and that better preparations are being set in motion for rescue and repair efforts. :)
it is hard to find out the TOTAL PICTURE. it went west of new o, but there is some parish (i really can't read that small unless i sit on top of tv) where still worried about overflow.
begins with a p....mines. poor of course. they just said once years ago its levees were blown up to spare new o!
now concern is those going back.
agate you must have stayed on all this time. there was someone with an l..... username in north of LA where it is going.
seems they did it right AND the republicans are doing it right by not holding a big convention in midst of it.
one will come my way sometime, last year i was at the ocean for a week when the remnants of one came up north. REMNANTS???????? i left a day early to get to dry roads and away from bridges. i love the ocean in a storm, but i do have a my limits.
glad nothing bad to report.

I wonder if you're thinking of lauriannem? She last posted on 7/26/08. According to an earlier post, she spends her summers in CT and so may be out of the reach of Gustav:

lauriannem, are you OK?
