I had a visit with a lung dr. about some other issue I have and asked him about Chantix and he said yes there is some conterversy about it and he doesnt presrcibe any more. So that tells me something .
we need to get booze off the shelves too . It kills too
I haven't heard. It was helping my son though really good. I hope you find something else that will work for you.

my husband used chantix 6 months ago to quit a 12+ year habit, he has a highly addictive personality but it only took him 2 weeks to quit with the chantix. He was able to just go cold turkey and said it wasn't even really hard. He had tried to quit numerous times before and he read up on chantix and felt it was worth the risk. He got off it as soon as he felt he could, which luckily was only 2 weeks. I think it's a personal decision, but just wanted to let you know it doesn't have to be a long-term treatment.

just wanted to add... during those 2 weeks we kept a really close eye on his mood, and I'd advise anyone to call on family to help do the same. After kicking a habit of that length, it is understandable to have some agitation when figuring out how to deal with stress, etc. without a smoke, but you'll know if it's beyond the "normal" adjustment.

I am wishing you the best with your quit! :D Hope it all goes well for you on Sunday! I'll be praying for you and cheering you on!!!
My sister and my niece both quit using Chantix and neither of them experienced any negative side effects.
I quit smoking 13 years ago this coming December. I smoked for 25 years but I was an extremely heavy smoker for most of that time (no less than two packs a day and generally it was 3, 4, or even 5 packs each day). :(

It is SOO good to "see" you!! :D How are you doing? I hope and pray all is good and you're happy and well.
Yes hi teddiebears. I am always inspired by your story. It is a goood one!
I asked my son about his. He said that just a few times he got naseauated but it was brief. He adjusted when he ate and was better. What got him I think was the cost of it.
I did not have the guts to ask if he has stopped fully as yet. It is something my kids know I am frevent about. It is just as if they don't understand how upsetting it was to me to lose my daddy. Never mind my being allergic to smoke now. I think they ignore my fears and started thinking it was all about me, the smoke etc. But no, not so.
I wish anyone that tries to stop, success. Oh it'll be so good for you.
